Nintendo Wii Console (Includes Wii Sports) In a nutshell:
As if the idea of five games in one package didn’t sound a good enough deal on its own the Wii’s best multiplayer compendium comes free with the console.
The lowdown:
Clearly realising that they need to provide some quick and obvious reasons why the Wii Remote is such a good idea Nintendo have packed in this compilation with the console, which includes simple versions of tennis, golf, baseball, bowling and boxing. The four player tennis game is the obvious stand out as you swing the Remote exactly as you would a real tennis racket, with the game seeming to almost magically interpret your movements into the game. All the other games work in a similar way, as you hold the Remote like a golf club or ready it like a baseball bat - you can even use it to gently roll bowling bowls and add some subtle aftertouch. The graphics make be purposefully basic but these are the games to instantly prove why the Wii is going to be such a revolution.
Most exciting moment:
While even Wii Tennis can be played with very minor movements of the Wii Remote the boxing game actively encourages you to act things out properly. You hold up both the Remote and the nunchuck to simulate your two hands and then duck and weave as you switch between trying to pummel your opponent and dodging or blocking their own attacks.
Since you ask:
You can use your own customised Mii Channel character in any of the games for that personal touch. The idea was originally just a joke featuring caricatures of Nintendo’s top brass for a press conference, but it proved so popular that Nintendo ensured anyone could make their own character to play with.
The bottom line:
Five of the best games on the Wii and they all come free with the console!-HARRISON DENT
Customer Review: don’t pay over the odds try this
I had a play on my brothers Nintendo Wii and decided to get one. I was unaware of the scarcity of the Wii until I came to buy one. ?300 plus for an item previously sold for ?175 is out of order. Then I discovered Amazon de ( the German arm of Amazon) selling the same spec but with a euro plug - easy to sort - - multi language manual , plays all UK games, for a total price delivered of ?175. Can’t be bad. No problem using Amazon de, open a checkout in both Amazon UK and Amazon de and one explains the other. Remember not to proceed with English purchase. Delivery will be in 2 weeks. No catch and has pan European guarantees and Amazon name. Hope this helps
Update - it arrived 4 days after ordering, how fast is that?
the price worked out at ?175 - nothing more to pay for a PAL version
Customer Review: THE FAMILY CONSOLE
PS3 and 360 owners - please stop harping on about the graphics and performance. The Wii was never mean’t to compete with the next gen consoles and it never will, nintendo saw a niche in the market which was to entice people who previously had no experience or little interest in console gaming. You only have to look at the majority of titles for the wii - they are simple, fun and above all easy to get into even for first time gamers. I see the Wii has the party/family console, in terms of power it is not a million miles away from the old gamecube but its the controller that makes the difference which is great although on some games you still can’t beat a good old gamepad.
THE GOOD: Incredibly easy to use, best console for young kids by far. Excellent for parties etc. Good Value for money. Backward compatible with gamecube games. Full downloadable catalogue of retro games. Some very unique games not available on other consoles.
THE BAD: Graphics have’nt been evolved much since the gamecube. Control system expensive. Tiny internal memory, as yet only SD memory cards available (but there is talk of a external HD which will then make the console as expensive as a ps3 ?299). Still no DVD? Serious titles a bit thin on the ground with many titles being direct ports from other consoles ie PS2 - therfore not taking advantage of the wii.
Overall I like the wii for quick bursts of fun but I would’nt want to have it has my only console.

Customer Review: Just go to the Nintendo Europe Website they offer points for free
2000 points card is something worth buying if you want the Internet Channel and some retro games from Super Nintendo, Nes, Mega Drive, Nintendo 64 and others i don’t care about. Well this is great if you want classics such as Streets of Rage, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario, Starfox 64, Sonic The Hedgehog. The games i find though are a little overpriced Nes games been 500 points, Super Nintendo and Mega Drive been 800 points each, Nintendo 64 from 1000 to 1200 it bit expensive in my mind. The only games i have ever bought off this was Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 which was worth it i have had loads of hours out of the game. The sad thing is if your Wii breaks your going to have to buy these games again as you cannot transfer then to another Wii system unless Nintendo will replace the system. If you have a wireless connection in your home then check this out if not check out Nintendo wireless thing they made not sure what it is called. If you have the money check it out though Nintendo’s Europe site are giving you points by registering your Nintendo games on the site. Now they offer points to you for buying there products always check the card inside the game once you buy it then go to the Nintendo website and enter the number from the card you got from the game. Great way from Nintendo to finally let you use your star points from the Nintendo Europe site to change them to Wii Points.
Customer Review: Essential for those classic titles. Do not pay more than ?15 maximum for it though…
This little card will enable you to download all those classic titles fom the original Nes console all the way up to the N64, lest me not forgetting the mega drive and Turbographx titles. If you prefer not to use this card you can use a debit or credit card for the same price. (Except paying by card on the wii you can buy the points in smaller or larger chunks, 1000, 2000 or even 5000). It works out 70p per 100 points providing you pay ?15 for the card or over the wii itself with a debit/credit card. Here are the prices: Nes: 500 points Snes: 800 points N64: 1000 points Turbographix: 600-800 for more advanced titles Mega drive: 800 points With more consoles soon to be added, stay tuned. Please bear in mind to use the wii shopping service you will require a broadband connection.
While Electronic Arts’ other sports games may be locked in a deadly rivalry with their competitors there really hasn’t been a golf sim to go head-to-head with Tiger Woods for years. There doesn’t seem to be too much laurel sitting going on though, especially since this is, like many Electronic Arts games this year, the first time the game has been designed specifically with the next generation of consoles in mind. Naturally that means the most realistic graphics yet, not only for the course itself but also for Tiger and the other real-world golfers. Their faces and expressions look totally life-like and on the PS3 and 360 you can use a webcam or digital camera to import your own face and graft it to your own in-game custom golfer.
In terms of gameplay the major new feature is the concept of “shot confidence” which monitors your performance through your whole career, adding an extra degree of tension to difficult shots but also allowing you to examine your game in detail to find out where you’re going right and wrong. After criticisms that last year’s game was a bit thin on options this new game has the greatest number of courses ever including Westchester Country Club, TPC Boston, Cog Hill and East Lake. There’s also the expanded GamerNet mode which acts like a sort of YouTube just for the game, allowing you post in-game videos and challenge other people to a game in an online world dedicated to nothing but golf.

Customer Review: the best tiger ever…
i really thought carefully about this game before the purchase. i’d played other tiger games on the xbox and had tried tiger 07 on the wii which i didn’t like. This was mainly due to the fact that i’d This happened often and was so annoying that i gave back the copy i’d borrowed and never bought the game myself. Instead i bought pangya golf which started ok, but within a few hours i found the learning curve unbelieveably steep and the opponents regularly sinking 30 foot puts to beat me. I sold it on ebay. Then tiger 08 comes out and has some good reviews. Keen to get a new golf game i purchase and find it’s brill. Yes the swing needs some getting used to and sometimes it doesn’t seem to register your shot correctly but mostly it works well (much better than 07!!). I find if i keep my hands straighter than i normally would, and swing in an exagerated fashion the wiimote registers my shot correctly most of the time. I’ve started working through the tiger challenge mode, which is big, and i’m enjoying myself loads. i don’t win every challenge first time, but the variety of types of games keeps things interesting. The multiplayer mini games look excellent although i’ve not tried many myself. One annoying fact is that you can’t save a round half way through. You can skip most of the cpu’s shot but a round can still take up to 45 mins and so a midgame save would have been good. overall - I was hesitant before purchasing but now i’d recommend it strongly.
Customer Review: Excellent fun, especially for two players
This was the first “proper” game I bought for the Wii, and I have not been disappointed. The initial tutorial was a bit scary, and after 2 or 3 games my wife and I were not sure if we liked it. But we perservered and now this game is a regular Friday or Saturday night companion with a couple of bottles of wine. Definately best when playing someone else, (although the Tiger challenge is well worth doing to bolster your purse and allow you to buy crazy head gear or clothes) the only drawback we have is the occasional quirk resulting in you exclaiming “I didn’t hit it that hard!” And just when you think you’ve mastered the backspin on your tee-shot, your competitor comes along and “adds” a gust of wind to blow your shot into the bunker! Go on buy it - you won’t regret it!
