Tetris DS (Nintendo DS)

Tetris DS (Nintendo DS)
In a nutshell:
The game that launched 150 million Game Boys is back with the first Nintendo-developed Tetris title in eight years, featuring six different game modes and a ten player multiplayer option.

The lowdown:
With a game that’s been around as long and with as many versions as Tetris it’s obviously difficult to think of what else to do with it. Nintendo’s answer is to fill the game with as many different game modes as possible, including completely new concepts like Push, where both players share the same pile of blocks, and Touch which is specifically designed to use the stylus. Best of all there’s a ten player multiplayer mode for playing against nearby opponents in wireless mode or a four player Wi-Fi mode that you can play against anyone in the world. On top of this the whole game is filled with cameos and tunes from classic Nintendo games, from Super Mario Bros. to Metroid, for that perfect retro cool look and feel.

Most exciting moment:
Going up against nine other opponents in wireless mode, watching all their screens on the top screen and then winning out as the victor of them all!

Since you ask:
The controversial “super rotation” technique, which allows you to infinitely spin a block before placing it, is actually the idea of the original Tetris license holders and Nintendo, and anyone else that makes a Tetris game, is contractually obligated to include it in the game.

The bottom line:
The best version of Tetris for years and another top Wi-Fi game for the DS.

Customer Review: Classic
Classic with lots of extra ~ similar games.

If you liked Tetris the first time in the very early 1990’s, then you will love the new twists on the game that are available on here!

Customer Review: Tetris… what more can i say
Blocks fall from the sky, and you must slot them into gaps. You make a chain of 99 lines, going for the killer 100 total, but lose concentration and end up failing at the final hurdle.

I am talking about tetris, the game which almost made people tear out their eyes in ‘89, has come back to haunt them on DS. The content of the main game is virtually the same, except for some lovely graphical effects. You see, you still try to clear lines, but whilst you’re doing this, you can see some cool 8-bit nintendo memorabilia. Link, Samus and of course Mario are all along for the ride.

And the main game got longer as well. With new modes and being able to get up to 999 lines, the action never stops. And Nintendo have added new modes as well, which all work well, and are a handy get-away from the original action. Push is the least addictive of the bunch, however it would have worked brilliantly in 2-player, what with you pushing a block onto your opponents screen. Mission gives a task for you to do,fairly easy I must say. Puzzle is great, and soon you’ll be using your brain more than Dr Kawashima. Catch is annoying at first, but once you get your head around it, it can be a hidden gem. But the extra fun to be had is in touch, were you have to move existing blocks into lines.

Once you get this, you’ll be screaming like you did in ‘89. You’ll find a tactic, then the game will crush it, forcing you to go back to the drawing board. With original tetris to look forward to, and some time-consuming extras you’ll love this game. Trust me.

Sudoku Master (Nintendo DS) Customer Review: Does What It Says On The Tin
The game cannot be faulted at all in providing exactly what is expected - a large number of Su Doku puzzles with an initial tutorial mode for those unfamiliar with the puzle , going all the way up to quite difficult . Game times are kept , and there is a star system based on how quickly the puzzles are completed . Completing the grid is by either writing the numbers in the boxes , or tapping on a panel beside the grid .There is space to actually ‘pencil’ in suggestions for numbers in boxes - I have done this when doing the puzzle in newspapers for instance .

So . It’s pretty low on frills , but you get what you want - heaps of puzzles !
Customer Review: A must for Sudoku fans
There are several aspects of this game which make it stand out from other sudoku games. There are two methods for completing the grids, by touching a number pad (this is extremely helpful as a number becomes greyed out when it has been entered in the grid 9 times), or by writing in with the stylus. So you can choose which method suits you best. There are 10 practice sessions where an incorrect entry comes up red which is very good for beginners. There are 400 puzzles ranging from practice, easy, normal and hard and a time record and scoring is kept so you can go back and repeat a puzzle to try and improve on your score. Hours of fun!! You can highlight numbers and lines in the grid to make it easier to see where you have completed. All in all, I totally love this version of sudoku and would recommend it 100% to both sudoku fans and newcomers to sudoku alike.

Customer Review: It’s Okay,
This game is Okay but I’ve seen better. It’s the same levels all over again. It takes such a long time to play and has very little to do with film. It’ll keep you entertained but only for a while. Chloe Age 10

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Nintendo DS)

It’s the game that never should’ve worked. Normal licensed games are usually bad enough but the game of the toy of the film? Clearly the Force was with developer Traveller’s Tales though because Lego Star Wars I and II were huge critical and commercial hits that showed that not only could licensed games be good but that titles aimed at kids and the family could be just as innovative and entertaining as any other. Clearly not wishing for any of the new consoles to miss out on the fun this is a compendium of both games with a bunch of new extras thrown in on top.

Together the two games cover both the prequel and original trilogy, with each film given six separate levels of its own, one of which is vehicle based. The rest of the levels though are deceptively simple action adventures with a built-in co-operative mode that anyone can join in and leave whenever they want. The combat is simple enough that anyone can play and you never really die, leaving the most complex part of the gameplay the always cleverly designed puzzles.

For this special version of the games extra levels have been added in (including the Zam Wessell chase from Attack of the Clones) as well as new bonus missions, ten new bounty hunter missions and the ability to play any of the characters in any of the levels. Add in a new online co-op mode for the PS3 and 360 and this really is the complete saga.

Customer Review: the best star wars for the ds
It has the same pedigree as the previous lego star wars games, thsi time it encapsulates all the episodes combined with all the fun of lego. Highly recommended, this is a fun, well thought out action game, a stand out title for the ds.
