Diner Dash (Nintendo DS)

Diner Dash (Nintendo DS)
Customer Review: brilliant fun!
i bought this game expecting to be kept amused, and i was. its great fun, serving, cleaning up, keeping customers happy. (the crying babies who make a mess on the floor are the most annoying!) you just have to keep going to get to the next level, and if you complete enough levels on expert, you unlock a new restaurant, genius, get it!

Customer Review: surprisingly addictive if you give it a chance
The first couple of times I played this it just seemed too simplistic and boring. But then as the difficulty of the shifts increased and targets got higher it started getting really addictive. Its very simple in its concept - and really a lot of the best games are. I’m not sure that many guys would like this game, not because of the main character ‘flo’ being girl, but its all about multitasking, and lets face it that not a boy thing!. For successful shifts you get rewarded with new outfits and make-overs for the restaurant, and ultimately unlock new restuarants. Overall its a good game and good for all ages.

Diddy Kong Racing (Nintendo DS) Customer Review: A bit too easy
My missus bought this game a couple of weeks ago as she fancied a cartoony racing game. She wasn’t particularly impressed with it.

I’ve had a play with it too and if I had played the original on the N64 then I might have pangs of nostalgia which added warmth for the game - but I didn’t and was left a little cold by it.

My main gripe with it is that it is too easy. The first time I picked it up I did a quick race, managed to take the lead after a few seconds and got stuck at the side of a tunnel/bridge. I reversed a few times and got myself back on the track - still in 1st! There was no challenge. I got a few boosts and used them to extend my lead. I’m not even that great on racing games usually (I thought I was good on Mario Kart until my mate Marc whipped me into the ground on it!).

There are some good aspects - you can choose to race by road, water, or air - and the little planes are very cute! The power-ups are a bit different to those on other games - and if you collect several of the same colour you can increase the power of your power-up.

But - I felt that I was getting into 1st and not really facing any competition. There’s no challenge, it was always going to be tough creating a driving game for a platform where Mario Kart exists (it is absolutely brilliant), and with there being no ‘thrill of the chase’ in this game, you lose any real passion for it after a few goes.

Customer Review: Does exactly what it says on the tin!
Like the other reviewer, I brought this game and feel that it does need defending.
First off I love these kind of games…blowing up opposition and getting speed powerups to whizz past your opposition…
As far as the game goes, yes it is great, the DS have captured it well with the driving in the top window and the map in the bottom. Ingenious idea for the starting grid…depending on which veichle you have will depend on what you can do. The car is just a simple up and down spin your tyres, The hovercraft is a circular aciton on the touch screen and the plane, get this….blowing onto the touch screen!!
The only slight snag I have with the game is the lack of weapons, there is only the missile and the oil slick, but with the upgrading of these if you collect more of the same powerful does make it worthwhile.
All in all a good solid game…my first one of the DS!

Customer Review: Good quality, Well worth it.
Not much to really comment on. Excellent quality screen protection, easy to apply and well documented. These are also officially licensed by Nintendo and quite rightfully so, they are probably the best on the market. Excellent double layered system for application leads to zero air bubbles if applied correctly. Save your screen, It’s well worth it!
Customer Review: The Best
Does exactly what is says on the box. Easy to apply, great protection and excellent price from Amazon. Agree with everything said by other reviewers. Had these filters on for nearly a month now and very happy. Just come back to order some for partner’s DS lite because he bought cheap filters and has had nothing but trouble with the touch screen since. Don’t make his mistake - buy these.

Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo DS)

Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo DS)

In a nutshell:
Start a new life on your DS with the most unlikely source of online addiction you’ve ever experienced. You’ve complete freedom to customise your home and the town around it as you socialise with the locals and your friends alike.

The lowdown:
The world of Animal Crossing seems a peculiarly simple one at first: there are no levels to be beaten or bad guys to overcome, just a cheerful little village to maintain, as you water flowers, catch fish and dig for fossils. But before you know it the game has its hooks in you, as you meet friends via the Wi-Fi Network Connection to chat and compete or start playing the turnip stock market. With over 600 different pieces of furniture to collect the game has a near infinite lifetime and by running in real-time with special events all through the year you’ll find yourself checking in daily with what’s going on around town.

Most exciting moment:
Winning a fishing competition against three friends and rubbing their noses in it via the online chat.

Since you ask:
The first Animal Crossing game was actually released on the N64 in Japan – the GameCube version was a slightly enhanced version of this.

The bottom line:
Live the life idyllic on your DS with the best use of the Wi-Fi Network Connection yet.

Customer Review: Fantastic
My boyfriend recently bought this game for me in combination with the ds pink edition. Being a girl and fascinated by all things girly, i gave it a shot. I am 21, and haven’t found anything as addictive or playable as this in a console game. Bright, slightly surreal and never boring. Perfect for those who want to escape the confines of reality as well as chronic insomniacs. Would recommend for females more than males as it is sickeningly cute. No limit for age suitability, a welcome relief from platform and killing games.

Customer Review: LOVE this game!!!
I bought this game at the same time I got my DS and it is TOTALLY addictive!!! It’s simple really - it’s set in real time (it gets dark at night time and stars and the moon appear in the top screen) and you just potter about fishing, catching bugs and digging up fossils but you find yourself playing every day, wanting to know if there’s any new furniture for sale in Tom Nook’s store or seeing if you can catch a new expensive fish. You also get to decorate your house and fill it with fun furniture.

It’s sort of like the Sims but without the stress of a job or having to shower, eat and go to the toilet all the time - and it’s much cuter!

I was a bit worried it might be for younger people but I’m 19 and I love it, as does my 11 year old brother.

Overall, a great and totally addictive game!!!

Customer Review: THIS IS A BRILL GAME !!!
Hi, I would say this is a great game you get to 1 pick your Hamster 2 name it 3 play mini games 4 feed your hamster 5 let it out of its cage 6 connect with your friends And lots more I would buy this game.
Customer Review: Excellent - for very very young children
This is a very simple game. My child is 4 and a half years old and really really enjoys looking after the hamsters. Initially I thought she would get bored very quickly as she has nintendogs (and can play this well) which I think has a lot more to offer in terms of what you can do with your dog. However, surprisingly, she loves this simple game. This is definitely not suitable for the older child or adult who would get bored after learning how to use it (which doesn’t take long). THIS GAME IS MOST DEFINITELY FOR THE VERY VERY YOUNG CHILD AS ONE OF THEIR FIRST NINTENDO GAMES.

Customer Review: Only One Workout Per Day.
This is the first Brain Training game that I have bought for the DS Lite and even though I am enjoying it I do find that the voice function is not too hot. I also don’t like the fact that you only get one chance per day to change you brain age. Why? Surely if you want to play it all day and try to improve your score you should be able to do so. I know your supposed to use it on a daily basis but the idea may be to allow you to have 3 sessions per day. The graphics are nice and simple and the gameplay is good, the puzzles are good and do make you think.
Customer Review: scissors is a bad bad word…
A very good game which actually does help you get better at remembering stuff. My mum is 21. I’m about 50. (HELP! I’m dumb…) The only problem I have with this game is that my parents never get off it. Also on rock paper scissors, it WILL NOT recognise the word “scissors”, no matter how many different ways in which you say it… XXX

Sim City (Nintendo DS) Customer Review: Very addictive
Firstly, i’ve read in a few places that people found this game dissapointing compared to the latest PC versions. What did these people expect? It’s a DS game, it isn’t able to compete with a decent PC. Apparently it’s a port of Sim City 2000 from the PC, and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much the developers have managed to cram into the little cart.
My biggest worry was that, like the awful GBA version, the game map would be tiny. It isn’t. It’s massive!
At first the controls are a little tricky, but you’ll soon get used to them.
Most of the important bits are here, as well as all the disaster options, landmarks, bonusses…
And if like me, you just like to turn off all the disasters and just slowly and painstakingly design your own city from scratch, I can guarantee that you’ll waste hours / days / weeks on this addictive game.
Probably the best strategy title (apart from Advance Wars) on the DS in my opinion.
Customer Review: Pritty Good
The game being played on the DS is awesome but it has the usual problems when taking a PC game and putting it onto the DS console. The controls take a while to get used to, it can run very slow at times and the saving and loading takes for ever.

The intricacies of the game such a s finding out how many donuts the police station gets through is missing and the scenery is flat, it is either water or land. However the real essence of the game is there. The game has only one view point, two levels of zoom and two speeds. This does mean that waiting to build up finds you really have to wait, and things like airports and advanced power plants can take hours or day of playing time to get.

But over all the game is really good, as addictive as the original and the bonus of being able to put a city in your pocket. As a newbie to Sim City you will think its great, as an experienced player you will be disappointed by the bits missing but is still really worth getting.

Customer Review: pretty good
i wanted this game as soon as it came out but only received it a few days ago but i can only say awesome doesnt use all the dses capabilities but thats because its just a port of the gameboy advance version but there has been some sections added like a whole flight mode very similar to rogue squadrom on n64 which was a cool game to but the game itself is very good but over before you even have chance to get into it maybe it seemed like i completed it very quick was because i was havin so much fun with it if your lookin for a fun but short ds game this will probably be right down your lane but if your lookin for something with depth and replayability you might wanna look else where but i suppose the starfightere missions give a little bit of replayability but not much if your a die hard star wars fan you will love it instantly but there is still enough here for non star wars fans aswell if you also like old 2d side scrollers like streets of rage double dragon and so on you will like or love it overall a game i recomend but be warned over very quick !!!
Customer Review: Shoddy GBA port
This is exactly the kind of game I feared when the DS first came out - a port of a GBA game with added touch screen ‘fun’.In essence it is a bog standard side scrolling beat em up with a few little star wars twists such as force powers etc. The whole game (except for the appalling flying sections) is a straight copy of the GBA version meaning it looks very poor by DS standards, and since it was designed with a GBA in mind does not even control that well as the DS is noticeably bigger. The touch screen use comes in the form of being able to touch the touch screen to activate special moves - which can already be activated by simply pressing buttons! All in all this is easily one of the worst DS games out there and in a perfect world would not be played by anyone - but since it’s Star Wars will undoubtedly sell loads.

Customer Review: Surprisingly fun to play!
To anyone who is curious, I imported this game from the US, when it came out. I was expecting a pretty rubbish game, since when I played a spyro game on the ps2 (Enter The Dragonfly), I found it was fully based on platforming and it was a bit boring. This DS game is different though. This is just my opinion, but the developers really nailed the formula with this game. There is a perfect balance between an interesting story (with hollywood voice acting from elijah wood e.t.c), platforming, action, good level design and even simple but fun mirror puzzles. Its just really fun to play - the levels are like huge arenas (and pretty gorgeous considering the hardware) in which you can jump, glide, breathe fire and attack enemies. There is a nice pickup system where red gems are for health, purple ones are powerups and so on, and this usually works well. You get to guide Spyro through several vast and well designed levels, while encountering a boss every now and again. As well as standard melee attacks, you also get four magic breath attacks (fire, earth, lightning, ice), which I found impressive- also, they’re really useful for times when you are surrounded with enemies. Periodically through the game, you will get dumped in a medieval arena stage, which is basically a brawler level where you can try out different attacks. The graphics are great! Picky people who are used to the ps2/xbox might not be excited but the fact that the game is fully 3D is a great thing for me, because it gives you much more freedom. The framerate is absoloutely solid most of the time, and the camera is jerky but just about bareable considering there are much worse 3D games than this! Trust me, considering the size and sheer amount of levels to play with, you most likely won’t be disppointed. The only thing I can truly critise in this game is the save points. Unlike most other games, the issue of saving isn’t really mentioned. The game automatically saves for you up to a certain point, and usually this is a good thing, but some levels are pretty big so it might be problematic. In conclusion, when it comes out, either buy or rent this game! If you like 3D platformers with plenty of action, or adventure games with interesting stories, this is a must have -, this is the best action based ds game I have played! Oh I forgot there are 5 single-player mini games as well, which are a great distraction from the adventure levels.

Picross (Nintendo DS)

Customer Review: Absorbing mental challenge
The premise is simple - you must uncover a picture using only the numbers at the side and top of a grid to guide you which of the boxes should be filled or remain blank . The pick up and play approach , long associated with Nintendo handheld games , is again in evidence here . The puzzles are myriad , and will keep you playing - ‘just one more go’ . There is also the opportunity for daily challenges and wireless play .
Customer Review: Fun, in sudoku-ish style
I’m actually torn between loving this game and finding it mildly irritating. The premise is very very simple: you have a grid, and next to each row and column a set of numbers indicating the length (and order) of each contiguous block of cells you need to select. Take a look at the screenshots and you should see what I mean. This game probably is most suitable for people who enjoy logic puzzles (sudoku et cetera), though the starting levels are easily accessible enough for anyone to pick up. The built-in puzzles are finite (though large) in number, but there is also an editor so that you can create your own (presumably to share with your equally-geeky friends), so you shouldn’t hit a premature lack of content. I do have some gripes about this product: the controls are slightly fiddly, and playing for long periods on the larger (15×15) grids may make your head hurt from looking at the tiny numbers. People who get easily frustrated by tough logic problems will find levels past the earlier ones to be unpleasant, but with patience and careful calculation they certainly all seem to be solvable, and indeed the learning curve is pretty comfortable. Overall, it’s an excellent way to waste 10 mins - 1 hour at a time, and pretty addictive. Very much worth buying (even over things like Brain Training) if you have a DS and want some games which are more pick-up-and-play.
