Features: Shake, tilt and point! Mario takes advantage of all the unique aspects of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller, unleashing new moves as players shake the controller and even point at and drag items with the pointer. Mario essentially defined the 3-D platforming genre with Super Mario? 64, and this game proves once again that he is king. Players perform mind-bending, lowgravity jumps across wild alien terrain as they experience platforming for a new generation.
Customer Review: The greatest game ever made!
This is the best game I have ever played and having played games for over 27 years I have played a lot of great games! It even surpases the genius of Mario 64. Nintendo prove once again that they know exactly how to get level design and difficulty curve perfect.

Big Brain Academy (Wii)
Nintendo clearly learned a lot from the DS when designing the Wii, with its unique control system and ultra user friendly interface. It’s not just the hardware which bares comparison though, with Nintendo planning a similar range of unusual software, some of which can barely be described as a video game at all. Big Brain Academy on the DS was the less academic of the two brain training games released, testing your grey matter in five separate areas categorised as “Think”, “Memorize”, “Analyze”, “Compute” and “Identify”.

Only three mini-games have been shown so far for the Wii version, the first presenting you with three numbered blocks and a total that you have to reach by adding two of them together. Your job is to knock the one you don’t need out by wielding the Wii remote like a hammer. The second game is a variant of spot the difference, except with inverted and distorted pictures where you have to place the missing elements in the second image. The third mini-game displays two towers of bricks where you have to punch holes in one so that it exactly matches up to the other.

All three games are played against an opponent, which implies that all or most of the other games will be too. Since you can also use your Mii character this is certain to be a multiplayer favourite for just about anyone in the family. So even if it doesn’t improve your brain power it should at least ensure you remain happy in your ignorance.

Customer Review: Speed is the answer
This is a game that tests your ability to answer very quickly - it is NOT a brain development game at all. If you take your time and get all the tests correct, you will not get a good score. Sorry found this rather repetative and crass - not worth the money. The DS Brain game is much superior to this!
Customer Review: A game YOU should add to your collection.
It is good fun and makes you want to concentrate in order to beat your previous grade. A week after buying it, I admitt that I thought it was a bit repetative but it is one of them games in which you play all the time then stop and then start playing it loads again. Multiplayer mode is great fun and trying to beat other students is great too. I bought it new for ?15 and I definitly think it is worth the money.

Genuine Nintendo Wii Wireless Remote With Free Genuine Nintendo Silicone Case Shaped like a TV remote, the Nintendo Wii controller has been designed to be easily used by beginners and pros alike. Sensors determine the Wii Remote’s position is in 3-D space, which means that racing-game steering and a tennis swing, for example, are done through movements of your hand rather than by just your thumbs. What’s more, a tiny speaker built into the Wii Remote promises some interactive surround sound experiences. The controller also has a force feedback “Rumble” feature and an expansion port for use with accessories, such as the Nunchuck, which adds an analogue thumbstick and trigger buttons.

Customer Review: Great for slowing things down
If you are getting RSI from too many games that want you to shake or spin the controller far too fast, and want a slower game that makes you stop and think for a bit, then this is great fun. There is a lot of accuracy required, and occaisionally some fast responses. Despite the games normal gentle speed, however, the adrenaline still starts to quickly gather, especially in the games where you have to split the mercury, and control all parts at once without losing any over the edge. Great fun, and very absorbing. Its also nice that you can unlock levels without having to get absolutely everything right, so you can have levels you just give up on for now if they are just too maddening to continue with!
Customer Review: Like being in the movie Cube - if you were a blob of mercury
For me this is a perfect example of what the Nintendo Wii is great at, simple idea, great gameplay, intuitive control system. Result = great game! The premise is quite simply to tilt the landscape to roll your little blob of mercury to its destination. The game is split into hundreds of levels, each with its own puzzles, mazes, traps etc to navigate. There are also little baddies dotted around who will try to eat you occasionally. The graphics are colourful and effective, but never get themselves tangled up in over elaborate detail or 3Dness. The gameplay is very addictive, you find yourselve always wanting to go just one more level. The music and sound effects are good, music never gets repetetive (good thing given how long you end up playing) with a seemingly endless rotation of songs and genres. I also love the sad noise your mercury makes when it falls of the edge. The control system is perfect, easy to pick up yet tricky to master. You forget your actually holding a remote your so engrossed. So why not 5 out of 5? I’ve given a 4 for a few simple reasons, mainly more features that could have been included: - Multiplayer play? OK its not essential in a game like this but would be fun - Option to play your own music in game via memory card? Would be perfectly suited to the hours of gameplay - On line features? Again not essential, but surely theres potential there. Hopefully these will be included in the sequel! Overall an entertaining, genuinely fun game thats definetly worth investing in.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)

For over a decade now fans have been wondering just what a team-up between Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog would be like. Everything from traditional platform games to complex role-playing titles have been suggested, but it’s fair to say nobody imagined that it would finally happen in the form of an athletics simulator. It’s officially licensed from the 2008 Beijing Olympics though (Sega already had the license for their own more traditional tie-in) and contains all the usual events you’d expect including the 100m sprint, swimming, judo, table tennis, hammer throwing and archery. Sega have even been talking about using the new Wii Zapper controller for a spot of clay pigeon shooting.

More than twenty-five characters from both universes will be playable in the game, including not just Mario and Sonic but also Luigi, Tails, Yoshi, Knuckles, Bowser, Doctor Eggman, Princess Peach and Amy. Other characters will have cameos as judges such as Cream the Cat and Toad. You’d expect some characters to be naturally better at some sports than others but each has their own strengths and weakness, with even Sonic’s incredible speed mitigated by his slow acceleration. The whole game is developed by Sega but overseen by legendary Nintendo creator Shigeru Miyamoto, with full tournament and missions modes as well as online leaderboards for all the different events. The name may sound like an April Fool’s joke at first but this crossover could well be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Customer Review: Not for lefties!
Despite importing our left-handed Miis from the console, all the games are resolutely right-handed. OK for some, but table tennis, javelin, fencing and a few others seem counter-intuitive, and don’t respond so well. My missus is actually pretty good at table tennis (in real life!), but couldn’t get to grips at all with controlling the right-handed player on screen…
Customer Review: how impossible is this?
A great idea, which will drive you mad, whether you’re 8 or 38. The tasks are impossibly difficult - the clay pigeon shooting is laughably hard - and everyone who’s come into our house and had a go has ended up frustrated and fed up. Why no easy levels to start with so that novices can at least feel they’re getting somewhere? All I can say is good luck and hope you don’t feel you wasted your money like we do.
