Sumnique UK Mains Charger For Nintendo DS

42 All-Time Classics (Nintendo DS)
In a nutshell:
Possibly the least obscure game title ever, this does exactly what it says on the tin with forty-two classics from chess and backgammon, to darts, poker, bridge and solitaire.

The lowdown:
The surprising thing about this game is that nobody’s thought to do it before. The games are split into three varieties of card game and two of board games, plus a selection of “action” games including bowling, darts and billiards. Playing the card games is just as easy as you’d expect with two screens and a stylus, whether it’s Old Maid and Pig or Texas Hold `Em and Bridge. The board games work just as well, with Chinese Checkers, Checkers (i.e. Draughts), Dots and Boxes and more. You’ll also find games like Turncoat (i.e. Othello), “Connect Five”, Ludo, Mahjong and Solitaire. You have got to go to some effort not to find something of interest amongst this selection.

Most exciting moment:
The best thing about having so many games is that, except for the ones that are purposefully single player, they can all be played online. If you’re playing against a friend you can even chat using a PictoChat style interface.

Since you ask:
The Japanese and Western versions of the game have several different exclusive games. Japan never got Texas Hold ‘Em, Dots and Boxes, Grid Attack, Ludo, Dominoes, Escape or Mahjong Solitaire but instead have Napoleon, Goninkan, Bozumekuri, Sugoroku, Size Game, Last One and Mini Golf in their version.

The bottom line:
The one video games compendium that really is for everyone. - HARRISON DENT

Customer Review: Fun with friends, but not so good solo
I thought 42 All-Time Classics was enjoyable to play on multiplayer, and it was nice to play a game with single-card play and still have all of the games available, and my personla favourite being balance, or the various amounts of card games. A problem I found, however was that the game wasn’t enoyable when I played solo. I found that the stamp and challenge modes were quite fun albeit quite hard, although it was not as much fun as I had hoped and was excting. Overall I believe that 42 All Time Classics is very god if you play with friends a lot but albeit being fun it was not as good solo.
Customer Review: variety
this game has lots of variety to keep you going you dont want to put it down when you get bored of one game you go for another its not just cards its darts, billards, bowling and loads more would recommend this its my favourite so far

Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (Nintendo DS)

Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (Nintendo DS)
Give your gray matter the workout that it needs to stay sharp, focused and young. Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day is inspired by a book that was written by Professor Ryuta Kawashima, a prominent Japanese neurologist. His theories revolve around keeping brains young by performing mental activities quickly.

When users first start a new game, they will be given a Brain Age Check that determines the age of their brains. Each day, they can compete for the high score in any activities that they have unlocked. They also can check the age of their brains once per day. The more training they do, the more activities they will unlock. Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day is designed to be played in small chunks over a long period of time and can hold data from a year of activity.

Features:

Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day is a series of mini-games designed to give brains a workout. Activities include performing simple math problems, counting people going in and out of a house, drawing pictures on the touch screen and reading classic literature out loud.

When users start a new game, they will take a series of tests and get a score that shows how old their brains are. This number is called the “Brain Age.” As they use the software over a series weeks and months, their mental acuity will improve and the Brain Age will drop, indicating a younger, healthier brain. Progress is charted in graph form.

Users can keep up to four save files on one game card. Sharing a game allows them to compare their results with those of family and friends. Users also can send a demo version of Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day to friends or compete with up to 16 players in a battle to see who can solve math problems the fastest.

Customer Review: Honestly - it’s good!
I got this game in January. I really enjoy playing the different games. You have to unlock certain games, like for e.g. there is a game called ’syllable count’, where you have to count how many syllables there are in different sentences. There is also another game called ‘calculations X20′ where you have 20 different sums to answer as quickly and as accurately as you can. The sums are easy, so one of them might be ‘ 8+4 ‘ e.t.c. There are lots of different games, which is one thing that’s good about it.

Altogether, I would highly reccommend this game.

Customer Review: Great Game
I’ve only had this game a couple of weeks but I’m really enjoying it. It certainly does exercise those grey cells and is very addictive. The only down side is the voice recognition where you have to speak out the colours. Even when I speak loudly and clearly it will often not recognise what I’ve said. Apart from that it’s a great game and is great for children and adults alike.

MySims (Nintendo DS)

The Sims 2: Pets has already appeared on the Wii, but it was just a simple port of the PlayStation 2 version with little real use made of the Wii remote. This though is a complete reimagining of the whole The Sims concept made exclusively for Nintendo’s consoles. The concept is largely the same as always as you take control of the lives of your own fictional family in what’s a cross between a video game and an interactive version of Big Brother. The graphics have been completely revamped, moving away from the pseudo realism of the older games and using a much cuter, cartoon style that’s somewhere between Playmobil and Animal Crossing (they’re actually modelled after a Japanese toy line called Pinky Street).

Naturally the game makes full use of the Wii’s controls with the remote used to pick up, rotate and drop objects and buildings with refreshing ease, while the nunchuck is used simply to move around. This is all in the aid of making the game as customisable as possible, from the characters themselves to their homes and furniture. Previously The Sims games let you build your own house or swimming pool but here you can design your own fridge if you want or bed, sofa or any other item of furniture. This feeds into the concept of having to do up your house and turn your virtual ghost town into a thriving village full of oddball characters. With Animal Crossing still some way off this could be the next big casual game on the Wii.

Customer Review: Not bad at all LOL
This game is very similar to animal crossing, however i sold animal crossing as i didnt like it but this is a keeper. it may be similar but its alot more interesting !!! Unlike other sims games you dont have to keep motives up, the only downside is its easy to complete (got to 5 stars in 3days) but we cant have it all now can we LOL Sims Urbz is still my overall FAV !! 5 outta 5 though so def a great buy, happy gaming to all xxxxx
Customer Review: Bit disappointing…
MySims seems to address some of the problems that cropped up in Sims2 for the DS… but not very successfully. One of the main problems with Sims2 was the lack of mini-games (almost nothing to do), while another was the lack of locations in the game (aside from the town or the desert, there was nowhere to go). The overly-basic method of communicating with other Sims was also an issue (very repetitive). MySims, on the other hand, has lots of minigames. In fact, In MySims, the majority of action and excitement in the game is down to minigames (paragliding, making lei, casino games), rather than events. In fact, the minigames become separated from the events/story of the game… making them seem quite pointless after a while. Maybe the main problem is that the biggest incentive for playing a minigame is to earn some Simoleans. And the only thing you can do with Simoleans is buy some flowers or furniture for your house(s). That starts to feel pointless too (especially when the furniture is largely non-interactive, and can only be looked at). The key would be to relate the minigames to your actual progress in the game’s story. Maybe instead of just paragliding to gain money, you could paraglide against another character who is trying to buy the town’s Mountain for himself, etc. Connecting the minigame more closely to the story-line is important. In terms of locations, there are quite a few in MySims (forest, port, mountain, etc). It takes too long to travel from one to another, even when using the bus, making it a bit off-putting to travel around from location to location. Maybe some earnable method for quick movement around the town would have been a good idea. As for communication, it’s pretty tedious. Walking around comforting angry tourists all day gets quite boring. I started avoiding it after a while, but still managed to do well in the game. Unfortunately, another major problem with Sims2 occurs again in MySims - i.e. the shortness of the game. I’m not generally a fast gamer… but I finished the main goal of this game (reaching 5 stars) within 4 days. Overall, a bit disappointing. I still believe that the Urbz is the best Sims game for the Nintendo DS. Great story-line, good mini-games, plenty of locations, plenty of stuff to do, and motivation to do it.

Customer Review: Where is the fun?
My 7-year old daughter got this for Christmas and has played it twice. She can ride a real horse (much better than I ever could), but the control mechanism here is just not responsive; neither of us have mastered it nor do we feel inclined to. I was going to sell it or trade it in, but reading the other reviews here, I may just encourage her to persevere a while longer before doing so. The problem for me is that this game IS up against the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Rayman Raving Rabbids (both of which the kids also got). They may be of a different genre but there are any number of different, innovative moves possible with the Wiimote and Nunchuk in these games. As a consequence, they get results and there’s enjoyment to be had - sadly, both seem to be lacking in this game. I dare say she may very well end up sticking with real horses - just as difficult, but more rewarding…
Customer Review: Amazin game for the Wii!!
I ma 14 years old and this game is soo much fun! I found it hard at the beginning to control the horse but after my dad showed me how to do it i got into it really well!! The graphics are amazing prepared to my other horse wii game of Pippa Funell ranch rescue. I love the fact they are like reins and that you have to win to get another course rather challenging with the tight corners with some courses!! I would only say that i wish that they had a hat on when you first start the game you have to do that yourself if you wanted. As it says at the top when loading at one point all FEI shows all riders must wear a hat, when in the game you dont have to! 5 star game and a real fun for all, i got all my family doing it and it was many laughs watching my mum lose her way whn the arrows show you where to go !! A must have for all horse lovers that have a Wii ! Of all ages!

Tomb Raider : Anniversary (Wii)

Tomb Raider : Anniversary (Wii)
Customer Review: She’s still got it
You would have thought now that the tomb raider formula would be beginning to tire especially seeing as the series, in numerous iterations, has failed to evolve and innovate to keep the franchise fresh. The core to all tomb raider games has always been its level design, and of course, Lara Croft; with the big busted lady’s amazing ability to swing and jump across deep crevasses and sidle along ledges as thin as her waistline, without breaking sweat at the hundred foot drop looming below. So why then is this game, which is a re-make of the first tomb raider, so fun to play whilst feeling fresh and like a completely new adventure?

This is largely due to the Wii remote which the game exploits to its absolute maximum not only helping its supreme and utterly absorbing playability but also the series as a whole. Lara has never been so good.

The game may feel slightly linear but the enormous environments which you’ll visit will allow for a lot of exploration and with secret items to collect, a reason to re-visit them a second, and even third time, just to get everything.

The aforementioned Wii controls are the true highlight however with a motion for almost every piece of lara’s equipment. Use a pick axe by moving the wii remote back and forth as if hitting a wall, to open new secrets and pathways; aim your torch to light your way when it’s too dark to see; take rubbings of ornate designs from the many walls and floors of the tombs you’ll explore; and aim your wii remote to take out those dinosaurs and gorillas which inhabit the temples and areas awaiting you.

To do these actions before would just require a button press, which was far less satisfying and intuitive as the superior wii controls this game exploits. And with the upgraded graphics helping to bring life to the environments and the amazing work done to animate Lara as she scrambles around rock faces and swings through the air with her grappling hook, this game sees off all competitiion from the original and even other games in the growing Tomb Raider franchise.

With the exception of quite a steep learning curve in regards to the controls and a few glitches here and there where the game needed a bit more polishing, this is definitely Lara at her best as she relives her first and probably best adventure in the Tomb Raider franchise.

A must-have title for any Tomb raider fans or newcomers to the series.

Customer Review: a decade of tomb raider games, and this ones is the best
I’ve been playing this game for a few days now and it’s a great addition to the series if anything the best! It has elements from all the titles that I’ve played and a huge leap from the first one I brought being that on the PlayStation. The use of the wii control is great and just adds to the authenticity of the game, I walk away from it feeling ass if I’ve not wasted my hours playing it and have felt fully involved. Sound affects are amazing in this game as are the movie sequences (short but sweet), gameplay is consistent and you won’t get bored.. The only downer is getting used to techniques using the wii control.. the instructions are very brief so you end up spending ages working out where you’ve gone wrong, I ended up moving my sensor dozens of times JUST to perfect the one move.. but once you’ve picked it up you’re away. Scenery changes so you won’t get bored in all a fantastic game of its genre and worth looking into.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Wii)

It’s the game that never should’ve worked. Normal licensed games are usually bad enough but the game of the toy of the film? Clearly the Force was with developer Traveller’s Tales though because Lego Star Wars I and II were huge critical and commercial hits that showed that not only could licensed games be good but that titles aimed at kids and the family could be just as innovative and entertaining as any other. Clearly not wishing for any of the new consoles to miss out on the fun this is a compendium of both games with a bunch of new extras thrown in on top.

Together the two games cover both the prequel and original trilogy, with each film given six separate levels of its own, one of which is vehicle based. The rest of the levels though are deceptively simple action adventures with a built-in co-operative mode that anyone can join in and leave whenever they want. The combat is simple enough that anyone can play and you never really die, leaving the most complex part of the gameplay the always cleverly designed puzzles.

For this special version of the games extra levels have been added in (including the Zam Wessell chase from Attack of the Clones) as well as new bonus missions, ten new bounty hunter missions and the ability to play any of the characters in any of the levels. Add in a new online co-op mode for the PS3 and 360 and this really is the complete saga.

Taking some learning but the graphics are excellent. can be frustrating when we cant work out what to do next… enter the 6 year old nephew. taking me to new levels of play.(asking me to get him to the next bit which happens but dont ask me how) I would highly reccommend although I am definateley not an expert….

Resident Evil 4 (Wii) Customer Review: great
There are already a lot of positive comments. I just want to add one more. I am not good at action games because my hands are slow. Therefore I have problems playing Zelda or Super Mario Galaxy. But I really couldn’t believe in myself when I beated this game (albeit in easy mode). I think the design is good so that you can use many tactics instead of brute force. A great game.

Customer Review: Resident Evil - Addicted
Well what can I say, this game is fantastic. Huge maps, problems to solve, lots of weapons to purchase and upgrade, scary music, great backgrounds, excellent controls and shooting… Best Game I’ve ever played I think. Sometimes when the music changes, and the monsters start shouting, your heart starts to race and you run for it (on screen) to find somewhere to hide, whilst you reload, and see if you can spot them.

The ONLY limiting factor to this game in my opinion is that it’s rather too easy to run out of ammunition, but that’s because you are panicking so much, you open fire at anything that moves (this can include chickens!). And that’s the thing with this game, there is simply so much to do, and you can even use new costumes (having a young girl in a suit of armour is terrific, and when Leon catches her, he winces and puts his hands on his hips, a cracking little touch of humour).

Having now completed it quite a few times in Pro Mode, I’ve got all the weapons you can have, yet I play it again, with the basic weapons, for the sport. A lovely head shot at 200 yards is fantastic fun, or seeing how much of the game you can play just using a rocket launcher etc…Or even just using the pistol and shotgun (though you have to use the darts now and again, it’s good fun watching the zombie keep walking, then explode!!). But that’s the thing, there is just so much you can do even in the main game, I’ve even played it to get my kills to over 1000.

Also, the fact that you have Assignment Ada and the other extras just makes it that bit better than any other game I’ve played, and keeps me going back for more and more.

It’s well worth the money !! (And I won’t often say that)

Customer Review: Good, but the Wavebird is better.
It’s a good pad, but the analogue sticks are a little too close together. Also, it doesn’t work with Gamecube games, and isn’t as comfortable as the Wavebird either. Now don’t get me wrong, it is NOT uncomfortable, just not as comfortable. Buy a Wavebird if you can, but if you can’t get one of these then.
Customer Review: Its close, but no cigar
Ok, first of all, it is a great idea to get the classic controller, as it does add to the enjoyment of the Wii, It includes all the “Wii Buttons” and it even works with the Wii Menu (so you can use analog sticks instead of the wii mote if you like)

But I do however find the controller uncomfortable.
It is basically a SNES controller with analog sticks!

The thing I find annoying about it, is the wire comes to the bottom. this wire annoys me when I am playing, I would prefer it come from the top.

However saying that, the buttons are easy to use, and it does work better then the GameCube controller, but it can feel like it is going to slip out of your hands, it could do with better grip (like the original GameCube controller), but some could say that the layout makes it feel more like the original SNES games, and stuff.
This maybe great, but if you are looking at downloading other titles, like the N64 games, where the second stick becomes “C” (up,down, left and right) it can become pretty annoying, especailly for some games. Like Mario Kart, ok the C buttons only really controlled camera angles and stuff. The great thing about the buttons was that you could still hold down the A button, then change camera angles etc… using another finger, this one, see’s you letting go of the A button, to use the “C” button.

That aside though, it is still one of the best things to get for your Wii, but I must say that ONLY buy this controller if you plan to play a LOT of Virtual Console games, although it can be used for other games aswell (Mortal Kombat, NiGHTS etc…) I would only really still get it, if you know you will use it a lot!

Although they love their sequels as much as any company, Nintendo aren’t usually ones to go in for yearly updates. The Mario Party series, developed by Bomberman creators Hudson, is their only example of the phenomena. As such, the series was always guaranteed to make an early appearance on the Wii - and with good reason too since its mix of board game antics and multiplayer mini-games are perfectly suited to the motion control of the Wii remote. Whereas some of the previous sequels have seemed a little unnecessary, this one actually feels like a brand new game. There are six new boards and fourteen different playable characters from amongst the usual Mushroom Kingdom pantheon. There’s also a new power-up system replacing the “orbs” of previous games with “candy”. These allow characters to transform into different forms to avoid traps and nobble other players, ranging from an airplane, to a bowling ball and a vampire.

Of course what’s most anticipated about the game is the 70 plus different mini-games, as usual ordered into 1 vs. 3, 2 vs. 2 and free-for-all games. These involve such activities as using the Wii remote to ride a water ski, tightrope walking, lassoing barrels, paddling a rowing boat with a partner, shooting on a target range and being the first to give your pet Chomp a wash. The games and presentation may all seem very cute but as ever the game is an expert at tempting you to cheat and conspire against your fellow players at every opportunity, making this the one family board game you won’t mind having an argument over.

Customer Review: I LOVE IT!
This game is practically the BEST multiplayer game for many reasons. Firstly, it is EASY to play for ANYONE of ANY AGE whether they have played video games before or not! Secondly, it takes out the COMPETITIVE side inside anyone who plays it, especially when there are 4 people playing. Thirdly, you cannot be that much “better” than others in this game as most mini games are decided on chance, and the final results depend on randomly chosen factors that you only know once the gameplay is over - meaning it really does not matter what strategy you opt for at the beginning! An example could be: it was how many times you “shopped for sweets” that counts instead of how many times you stepped on the green blocks… or how many coins you collected! What this means is that, ultimately, the SUSPENSE IS ENORMOUS because the results of the winner depend on factors that are revealed only at the very end! Finally, there are DIFFERENT BOARD GAMES! Yes! Unlike some of the previous MARIO PARTY games, this one enables you to enjoy different game plays where the objective of the game varies from buying hotels (similiar to the world’s best ever board game MONOPOLY) to finding BOO the GHOST in a haunted mansion to obtain stars! Nintendo has managed to pull out a CLASSIC game thanks to their focus on MULTIPLAYER GAMEPLAY instead of hardcore graphics! Overall, highly enjoyable and will go on and on and on!!!
Customer Review: Novelty soon wears out..
Its fun, it amuses my 4 year old, as many of the mini games are easy enough for him to play. Well animated, and there are lots and lots of mini games and challenges. BUT.. and this is a BIG BUT… the main structure of the game is essentialy a glorified 3D version of snakes and ladders, but you get to play mario, yoshi, etc as your playing piece. there is little or no skill involved in ‘winning’ the ‘game’ and getting stars - it all seems to be completely random, with so many twists and turns you cant really use any form of skill or strategy as anything you build up can be wiped out by an opponent in a flash. It’s got lots of animation for EVERY single thing, whilst fun for the first 10 minutes, this soon gets very tedious, and for the most common game layout it insist on having 4 players.. so if there are only 2 of you player, you get 2 computer players thrown in for good measure, this makes the game play even SLOWer.. I got the game out of the box today.. Im bored stupid already.. the kids will have fun.. but I really wouldnt recommend this for anyone over the age of about 10 - anyone over this age will easily complete the minigames and get bored silly in no time. OK to sum it.. the main game structure is seriously flawed.. after 30 mins it’s about as interesting as rolling a dice to have your next go in snakes and ladders. The mini games are fun, and varied, lots of different things to do, and great for 4-10 year olds… and unfortunately thats about it… not a great deal more to the game except variations of the same to make slightly different challenges. The price tag is WAY TOO HIGH for a game of this callibre - if you want to buy it then feel free.. but it I were you Id save your cash and wait for them to appear second hand in 2-3 weeks when everybody who got this for christmas will be desperate to get rid of it. Very short shelf life… just a way of milking money out of everyone who rushed out to buy a Wii just before christmas and then realised there is a limited choice of games and all the games are expensive…
