My Vet Practice (Nintendo DS)

My Vet Practice (Nintendo DS)
Customer Review: Think before you buy
My friend, Lucy, bought this game a couple of months ago, she is now fed up of it and has swaped it for nintendogs, she is rather pleased she got nintendogs and gave away ‘MY VET PRACTICE’ She said it was terrible, and i’ll tell you why.

1. the game reapets its self over and over again

2. you only do small tasks, like patting or doing doctor check ups, then you give the animal back to its owner again.

3. everyday the game gets boring. with the same thing happening each and everyday, simple tasks being given to you, sooner or later you’ll get tired, completing the game in half an hour (30 minutes) is a sign this game isn’t right for you.

4. this is the last reason. it may be new, but it graphics make it seem it was made a long time ago.

you see where i’m at? The graphics are bad, it is very short, reapets itself and if very, very boring. I suggest you don’t buy this game, but it’s your chioce, if you are against my opion i’m okay with that, but let me tell you this. My main goal is to make you think, make you think before you buy, and the fact that somethings aren’t worth the money. thank you for listening, please remember, if you like this game, i am not saying you are a bit silly for making the chioce to buy this game, i’m just speaking my mind. Thank you for your time, i hope i have helped.

Customer Review: Ok
This Game is ok but once you have finished all the tasks it gets a bit boring.I would NOT recomend this to people who like games that carry on and you can do in your own way, otherwise I would if you like quick challenges. The game is simple when you get used to it. Just read the instructions and soon you’ll be an expert. Get going Gamers!

Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (Nintendo DS) In a nutshell:
The portable phenomenon that has taken Japan by storm finally hits the UK. Part puzzle game, part self improvement tool this is the only game that’s both lots of fun and good for you - and that’s before you even start on Sudoku!

The lowdown:
Nothing about this game is ordinary, from the price to the way you hold the DS while playing it (vertically, as if you were reading a book). The basic idea is that you play through a series of puzzles each day, for about 10 minutes, and at the end of each session the “age” of your brain is calculated. The puzzles themselves range from simple maths questions to spot the difference, memorisation and comprehension. All of the answers are inputted either by drawing the answer on the touchscreen or speaking it into the DS’s in-built microphone. There’s also a multiplayer mode for up to 15 people where you can try and compete to record the youngest brain age.

Most exciting moment:
A brand new addition to the game, not included in the Japanese version, is a special DS version of Sudoku. This works great on the DS’s touch screen and is worth the already low price of admission on its own.

Since you ask:
A sister title to Brain Training, named Big Brain Academy, is due for release in July and offers to “weigh” your brain and improve specific skills such as memorisation and analysis. A direct sequel to Brain Training has also been released in Japan but is not yet scheduled for released in the UK.

The bottom line:
The only game that really is for the whole family - from kids to OAPs.
Harrison Dent
Customer Review: Its true - using your brain can be fun.
There should be an award dedicated to a game that is both addictive and makes you think. Brain Training has made me realise that since finishing compulsory education I have stopped using my brain in the ways that I am supposed to and have allowed it to become lazy. The mathematical puzzles really did show such; things that I probably could have done a few years ago have now really made me pause. The sign of hope is that this is a “game” that will teach you to start using your brain again, simply by performing simple mathematical and logic tasks for a few minutes every day. Since having bought the game I have noticed a significant difference in my concentration and mathematical proficiency, which is quite a stunning thing to admit. What is best about this game is that it doesn’t make it seem like it is a job that you are doing but that you are actually playing a game, and in all honesty as somebody who hated maths in school I now cannot stop playing on the number puzzles.
Customer Review: Very good game
I really enjoy this game and i love to beat my other score all the time! great game!

Nintendogs Dalmatian & Friends (Nintendo DS)
In a nutshell:
The ultimate evolution of virtual pet: Nintendogs gives you opportunity to preen and look after a selection of cute puppies in a virtual home, with virtual currency, where you can buy toys and accessories for their enjoyment. You can clean the pups, feed them, walk them, play catch with them, and even talk to them.

The lowdown:
Nintendogs is brimming with character. Each pup looks out from the DS touchscreen and paws longingly. You can respond to your virtual pet’s need of attention by stroking the screen, using items such as balls and brushes with the aid of the stylus, and talking to your dogs through the DS’s inbuilt microphone system. Impressive 3D graphics give lifelike animation to these canine wonders.

Most exciting moment:
After a few attempts to speak commands into the microphone, your puppy understands the meaning of “sit”, barks approval, and sits down. It’s good to talk.

Since you ask:
You can keep three pups in your home at any time. When left to their own devices, they’ll play and play-fight together. And they call this ‘puppy love’.

The bottom line:
A Nintendog is not just for Christmas.

Harvest Moon (Nintendo DS)

Harvest Moon (Nintendo DS)
While gentler games like Nintendogs and Animal Crossing: Wild World have become the best selling games on the DS, the Harvest Moon series has been ploughing very much the same field for nearly a decade now. As always the game starts with you inheriting a farm and most of the game revolves maintaining and growing your crops of vegetables and herds of animals. You have to work pretty hard at it too, planting crops, watering them and then harvesting them. Animals have to be watered and feed too, eggs collected from chickens, cows milked and sheep shorn.

Once you’ve tired yourself out with your daily chores though there’s a whole village to explore around you, as you collect wood to make new buildings or harvest fruit and other rare items to sell at the shop and expand your business. Your main goal in town though is to find yourself a sweetheart and woo her enough so that she’ll agree to marry you. As fun as all this is though it’s exactly how the Harvest Moon games have worked since the original SNES game and this version takes almost no advantage of the DS.

The touch screen is used merely as an inventory and as a means to pet your animals - other than that it’s almost entirely superfluous. Even worse, the graphics seem identical to a GBA game and not even a particularly good one at that, with some very poor animation. There are a few new features, such as a mini-casino run by the harvest sprites, but it’s not nearly enough to tempt you if you have one of the more recent GBA versions. If you haven’t though, it’s a reasonable, if unambitious, introduction to the series.

Customer Review: Potentially so good….
This game is potentially a really good game. The thought of having your own farm, growing crops, raising animals and selling them all for money is great. And with the money one of the many things you can do is hire sprites to help you on the farm, collect wood and stone for your buildings and all sorts of things.

But, for me, the game just doesn’t work. The first frustration is the amount of stamina you have, which means you can only do so many things each day - and if you accidentally dig a hole or water the wrong patch of ground, this stamina is wasted.

Also, the game is too mysterious. If you read the game guides you will see there is jewelery you have to collect or people you are supposed to meet at certain times and places, but there seems to be no way to work these things out for yourself - there’s lots going on that you simply do not understand.

Perhaps I did not give the game a chance, but I would suggest only buying this if you want to get seriously involved in it; it’s not one you can pick up and put down.

Customer Review: Great!
I love this game! You know why, because its very different. I have never really played a farm raising game. At first, when I got it, I was a little disapointed becuase it was so hard to get money! But then I found ways of earning money and bought some animals! Its alot more fun when you have animals, becuase you can care for them. I love how complex the game is, its all very realistic. The graphics could be better, but I guess the cute cartoony style is quite nice. I would reccomend this game to anyone who likes a bit of a challenge!

Customer Review: If It Was A Real Person, The Board Would Go Flying…
Yes, the interface is slick and well done, the board view could be bigger, but it’s not a problem. My main gripe is with the lexicon… your CPU opponents will come up with words which, although they are supposedly in the official Collins Dictionary used, you will find yourself questioning… so you decide to take off the gloves and fight fire with fire, and guess what? Your offerings are disallowed! I consider myself an average to good player, yet within 3 hours of picking this game up I was frustrated beyond belief. The last straw came when it would not allow me to put down ‘Zen’, and yet my opponent had been allowed some very odd words indeed. A big disappointment, overall.
Customer Review: My best DS game so far
This is a fantastic version of scrabble and even better because unlike the board game you don’t have to find/force humans to play against you! The graphics are great, and game controls fairly intuitive, you can zoom on sections and move around the zoomed in board easily. The only downside is that the words allowed are obscure, e.g. abbreviations, interjections are allowed and these settings cannot be changed. It also uses the Collins dictionary and this too cannot be amended. That said, it still is highly addictive and challenging - definitely my best game so far rating above Brain Training, More Brain Training & Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

Customer Review: Snore!
Having just completed the Goblet of Fire I was looking forward to more of the same from this - Oh how wrong I was. You play Harry and you have to wonder around the castle going through mundane tasks in order to recruit members of the DA. You constantly run into Malfoy and his cronies which makes for good duelling practice. As other reviews have pointed out the compass is hardly any use sometimes and on occassion you have to get the angle of entering a room just so or you have no chance. As well as the lessons to complete, there are out of school activities chocolate frogs, quiddich and exploding snap. You can also play gobstones with some of the yonger members of the common room. Once you have completed some lessons and tasks, you earn magic points which enables you to go to DA meetings and practise spells to build up your power. Even the later challenges are not that good. If you are looking for a follow up to Goblet of Fire, save your money and just replay it!
Customer Review: WHAT A RIP-OFF!
I love everything about the Harry Potter world- the books, the films and the games. Therefor, I was extremely disappointed after waiting days for it to be delivered to my doorstep that it was a complete waste of money and time! The camera is annoying, the duels are ok, but you usually only get to fight Malfoy, the Quidditch(the thing that I buy all Harry Potter games for) was EXACTLY the same as Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup on GBA, the tasks are pointless, the music is SO annoying, the lessons-hardly any of them! I could go on and on, but my fingers are sore from typing! My last words to you all are- Whatever you do, DO NOT EVEN THINK OF BUYING THIS GAME!

Lite Essentials Pack (Nintendo DS)
List Price: ?9.99
Amazon Price: ?8.99
Customer Review: Handy and gives good protection
The most value for money items in this pack are definetly the carry case and the clip case. The carry case is very good. Although it’s a bit chunky and not very stylish, it does the job very well. There are straps inside to secure the DS plus some netting which can hold the clip case which comes with the pack, the earphones and with a bit of a squeeze a GBA cartridge as well, thus it being kind of chuncky is well made up for by the fact that you won’t have to have these items lying around or getting lost in your bag somewhere. The strap that comes with the carry case can turn it into a not so stylish shoulder handbag, but they are prone to come lose. However the case is definetly sturdy enough to be squeezed in your overstuffed backpack. The clip is also incredibly handy, most packs I’ve seen only seem to have some lose game cases, which still means they’ll be lying around somewhere lose, which in my case would mean I would lose them. This one can hold 3 DS cartridges plus an extra stylus, all of which are protected by some kind of hard close fitting foam. Why they put in a very low quality mirror beats me, but it’s not a disadvantage. The earphones are good, they have an adjustable volume control in the lead, which really is a plus, they give a good quality sound and they look nice. Mine have lasted for a year now and are only broken because I have frequently accidentally let them fall on or swing against metal desk and chair legs, since I use them at work almost every day. The only part of this pack I can’t comment on is the car charger as I have never actually used it or had to use it, but I guess it is handy for long journeys abroad by car. Overall I think this pack is good value for money, especially for people who think being able to take 3 DS games with them and keeping the 3 games, the earphones and the DS all in the same carrier case is really handy.
Customer Review: Good and essential
Great value accessory pack for your Nintendo DS Lite Console. Keep your machine protected with the durable carry case. Store your game cards in the handy clip case. Charge your console via the cigarette lighter or 9V socket with the handy car charger. Enjoy your games in stereo sound with the sylish earphones.

Wii Play (includes Wiimote controller) (Wii)

Wii Play (includes Wiimote controller) (Wii)
In a nutshell:
If you want as gentle an introduction as possible to the world of Wii then this user-friendly compilation of mini-games is just the thing for you, with a collection of games that are as easy to play as they are fun.

The lowdown:
It might be easy to use but the Wii is still a pretty unusual beast and a bit of a culture shock from the overly complex controllers of other consoles. This compilation of mini-games aims to ease you in gently with simple to play games that only need the Wii Remote to enjoy. These include games of table tennis, air hockey (or Laser Hockey as the game would have it) and an updated of NES classic Duck Hunt. There’s also Wii Billiards, a fishing sim and a number of games which use your customised Mii Channel character, including Wii Pose and the Where’s Wally style Find Mii. Since many of these games have a multiplayer mode the game also comes bundled with an extra Remote (but not a nunchuck), which usually sells for ?29.99 separately.

Most exciting moment:
Although all of the games are fun the best one is probably the Duck Hunt update (which also has you shooting UFOs and other non-avian enemies). Perhaps what’s most exciting about it is that it proves how good other light gun franchises, such as Virtua Cop and Time Crisis would be on the Wii.

Since you ask:
Many of the mini-games included with Wii Play, such as Duck Hunt and Table Tennis, were first seen as technical demos at the E3 trade conference in May 2006, when the Wii was first revealed in playable form.

The bottom line:
The beginner’s guide to Wii, with a handy extra controller. - HARRISON DENT

Customer Review: Only buy if sold out of wii remotes by themselves
This is not as fun as Wii Sports and it is abundantly clear that Nintendo spent a tenth of the time making it. To be fair, you get a load of games and a controller for little more than the price of a controller on its own. However, the games are easy, not very fun and lack originality. I therefore recommend buying this if Wii remotes have sold out and you absolutely must have an extra controller, because once you’ve played the games you won’t want to play them again. Take my advice and save the ?5 extra you would have spent on buying Wii Play and put it towards a game that has lastability.

Customer Review: Get a Game Console for Christmas - Only ?5 ! Proven by the BBC !
I present you with a chance to get a Games Console for just ?5 - yep, that’s right - a fiver. It has been approved by the BBC. And it’s 100% genuine and legitimate. So hurry up and get your Games Console before Christmas.

This is all you need to do:

1. Go to this website: consolegift.notlong.(com) - (you can copy&paste - just remove the brackets)

2. Register with the website - you don’t have to provide your credit card details.

3. Complete one of the offers. I would recommend the “Coral” offer. Simply sign up to “Coral”, deposit ?5 and place a bet on anything you want. Alternatively, you can choose from one of the other offers listed.

4. Now, you have to get a few friends to sign up. If you can’t convince any, just give them ?5 to do it. And it will still work out cheaper than buying one.

5. Your Console will be ordered from Amazon within 2 weeks.

All the companies are very well known and popular, so there is no risk involved - Give it a go!

I was skeptic before, but once I received my iPod Touch, PS3 and a 32” Samsung TV I was glad I gave it a chance.

This system has been approved by BBC on one of their Newsnights programs. So you’re in safe hands!

I got it 5 months ago. I didn’t play a lot Wii(about once per month when friends come). Now the adapter is broken. Fortunately, my Wii is ok. My Wii is from Japan with a 110v ac adapter. I am thinking to buy a general voltage converter rather than a non-Nintendo product this time.

Big Brain Academy (Wii)

Big Brain Academy (Wii)
Nintendo clearly learned a lot from the DS when designing the Wii, with its unique control system and ultra user friendly interface. It’s not just the hardware which bares comparison though, with Nintendo planning a similar range of unusual software, some of which can barely be described as a video game at all. Big Brain Academy on the DS was the less academic of the two brain training games released, testing your grey matter in five separate areas categorised as “Think”, “Memorize”, “Analyze”, “Compute” and “Identify”.

Only three mini-games have been shown so far for the Wii version, the first presenting you with three numbered blocks and a total that you have to reach by adding two of them together. Your job is to knock the one you don’t need out by wielding the Wii remote like a hammer. The second game is a variant of spot the difference, except with inverted and distorted pictures where you have to place the missing elements in the second image. The third mini-game displays two towers of bricks where you have to punch holes in one so that it exactly matches up to the other.

All three games are played against an opponent, which implies that all or most of the other games will be too. Since you can also use your Mii character this is certain to be a multiplayer favourite for just about anyone in the family. So even if it doesn’t improve your brain power it should at least ensure you remain happy in your ignorance.

Customer Review: Basic, cheap and fun
At the current price you can’t go wrong with this. It’s an enjoyable game if not a little scarce on options. The graphics serve their purpose (it’s always good to see the Miis being used) and are quite charming. The best feature is being able to compare your records with friends over WiiConnect24. It gives the game the extra dimension it needs to stop it becoming a little boring and dust gathering, and can turn a simple game into an extremely competitive and addictive experience.

If you’re looking for a fun family game to kill a few hours on an evening I’d suggest purchasing this. But if you’re someone who expects depth, substance and endless hours of challenge I’d certainly think twice about buying it.

Customer Review: Simply brilliant
One of the best games I’ve bought for the wii so far. Me and my husband are constantly wanting to put it on to see who can win the most games this time, we’ve found the sprint when you race against each other the best. The games appear to be easy when first looking at them but once that clock starts ticking your mind goes to mush and they become harder than you think. Plus the fact that so many people can all play at once (up to nine depending on which game you select) means it can be a family affair. Well worth the money in my oppinion (especially if you get it at a reduced price)

Super Paper Mario
Super Paper Mario - Mario and Luigi are enjoying a lazy afternoon at their house when they hear the terrible news: Princess Peach has been kidnapped! The two Mario brothers head straight for Bowser’s castle to get her back, but Bowser is just as surprised about Peach’s kidnapping as theyare. At that moment, a strange top-hatted villain warps in and abducts everyone but Mario. The mysterious villain then forces Peach and Bowser to get married, creating a rift of dark energy that threatens to tear the universe apart. Only Mario can save the day … but he can’t do it alone. The newest chapter of the Paper Mario story isn’t just out of this world … it’s out of this dimension. What at first glance appears to be a super 2-D side-scroller ripped straight from the stylised pages of the Paper Mario universe soon turns into a hilarious dimension-shifting Super Mario platform adventure possible only on Wii. Super Paper Mario Features: Dimension-shifting gameplay: In super Paper Mario, players run through vibrant 2-D worlds, stomping on enemies and breaking blocks … then, with the press of a button, they flip into 3-D. In the third dimension, Super Paper Mario reveals hidden paths, battle foes and uncover secrets as they explore the previously invisible depth of the 2-D landscapes. Classic Mario Controls… with a twist!: Hold the Wii Remote sideways and control the game in classic Super Mario Bros. style. Super Paper Mario players can shake the Wii Remote to pull off stylish Mario moves like breaking out of frigid ice, and even point directly at the screen to get helpful hints from their super sidekick. Not only that, but in Super Paper Mario they’ll play as Peach and Bowser, both with their own sets of essential skills!
