Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (Nintendo DS)
In a nutshell:
The portable phenomenon that has taken Japan by storm finally hits the UK. Part puzzle game, part self improvement tool this is the only game that’s both lots of fun and good for you - and that’s before you even start on Sudoku!

The lowdown:
Nothing about this game is ordinary, from the price to the way you hold the DS while playing it (vertically, as if you were reading a book). The basic idea is that you play through a series of puzzles each day, for about 10 minutes, and at the end of each session the “age” of your brain is calculated. The puzzles themselves range from simple maths questions to spot the difference, memorisation and comprehension. All of the answers are inputted either by drawing the answer on the touchscreen or speaking it into the DS’s in-built microphone. There’s also a multiplayer mode for up to 15 people where you can try and compete to record the youngest brain age.

Most exciting moment:
A brand new addition to the game, not included in the Japanese version, is a special DS version of Sudoku. This works great on the DS’s touch screen and is worth the already low price of admission on its own.

Since you ask:
A sister title to Brain Training, named Big Brain Academy, is due for release in July and offers to “weigh” your brain and improve specific skills such as memorisation and analysis. A direct sequel to Brain Training has also been released in Japan but is not yet scheduled for released in the UK.

The bottom line:
The only game that really is for the whole family - from kids to OAPs.

Customer Review: Addictive, accessible and great value
A very addictive experience and one that anybody who can read and count will enjoy. It’s less unique now then it was a year ago because of the glut of similar titles inspired by it’s success. But the original Brain Training still stands tall as one of the best games on the market today. Through short daily activities and personal performance statistics Brain Training soon has you hooked. As you improve you unlock new games which give more variety to play. The game really comes alive with 2 or more players. There’s no wifi multiplayer, but players have their own files in the game which automatically compares performance stats and pictures. Perfect for a competitive family! My only criticism is that you can get bored with the games after a month or so. But having said that, most full price games I’ve bought have only hooked me for about a month and loose a bit of sparkle after that so at the budget price that Brain Training retails for you can’t really loose. This is one of the only games that has instantly grabbed everyone I’ve have ever shown it to, right across the age range. Every family with a DS in the house should get a copy and this game is one of the reasons to own a DS in the first place.

Customer Review: Very addictive
Firstly, i’ve read in a few places that people found this game dissapointing compared to the latest PC versions. What did these people expect? It’s a DS game, it isn’t able to compete with a decent PC. Apparently it’s a port of Sim City 2000 from the PC, and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much the developers have managed to cram into the little cart. My biggest worry was that, like the awful GBA version, the game map would be tiny. It isn’t. It’s massive! At first the controls are a little tricky, but you’ll soon get used to them. Most of the important bits are here, as well as all the disaster options, landmarks, bonusses… And if like me, you just like to turn off all the disasters and just slowly and painstakingly design your own city from scratch, I can guarantee that you’ll waste hours / days / weeks on this addictive game. Probably the best strategy title (apart from Advance Wars) on the DS in my opinion.
Customer Review: Pritty Good
The game being played on the DS is awesome but it has the usual problems when taking a PC game and putting it onto the DS console. The controls take a while to get used to, it can run very slow at times and the saving and loading takes for ever. The intricacies of the game such a s finding out how many donuts the police station gets through is missing and the scenery is flat, it is either water or land. However the real essence of the game is there. The game has only one view point, two levels of zoom and two speeds. This does mean that waiting to build up finds you really have to wait, and things like airports and advanced power plants can take hours or day of playing time to get. But over all the game is really good, as addictive as the original and the bonus of being able to put a city in your pocket. As a newbie to Sim City you will think its great, as an experienced player you will be disappointed by the bits missing but is still really worth getting.

Cars (Nintendo DS)

Cars (Nintendo DS)

In a nutshell:
Few kids films can be as well suited to video game immortalisation as Cars and just for once a movie license-in hasn’t just been used for a cheap cash-in. Think Ridge Racer, Jr. and there’s plenty to enjoy here for both adults and children.

The lowdown:
When you’ve got a movie populated solely by talking cars it at least means there’s no need to turn the game into yet another third person platformer. Instead you take the role of stock car Lightning McQueen in what is actually a sequel to the movie’s plot, as he works his way up the racing leagues. Whether there’s someone driving Lightning or not he still handles like any other arcade racer, complete with a handy powerslide. The artificial intelligence of the other cars can seem a bit too willing to let you win in the early stages but there are separate kids and adults modes to ensure all ages get a decent challenge.

Most exciting moment:
Although it’s not quite Grand Theft Auto the game features a surprisingly large game world for you to explore, with wide open canyons and towns filled with tons of side quests and mini-games to ignore or enjoy as you please.

Since you ask:
Almost the entire voicecast of the movie reprise their roles, recording original dialogue just for the game. This includes Owen Wilson and, in his first ever role in a video game, the legendary Paul Newman.

The bottom line:
One of the best movie tie-ins for a while and a decent little racer.

Customer Review: Addictive
I got this game yesterday and with the exception of the final race it’s completed, I wish there were more hidden things on there or something however it was very nice not to just have another platform game, while some of the mini games were a bit boring and annoying to get through there was a variety and I really enjoyed it. Definately worthewhile gettting and I’ll probably play the mini games over anyway particularly as there’s new levels unlocked - but more of the same thing.

Customer Review: interesting but….
At first this game was absolutly brilliant!!!! Great fun. But there arnt that many games. After a while it begins to get boring. There is not much of a story line and no racing. However it is great for a young kid. I thought this would have loads of racing but there is only one race. And in this all you do is play gaees. Great Game… at first.

Although it doesnt boast the same 3D graphics as other formats. The 2nd platform works really well. There is a huge amount of dialogue and the cutscenes are all there as well. Customer Review: Only One Workout Per Day.
This is the first Brain Training game that I have bought for the DS Lite and even though I am enjoying it I do find that the voice function is not too hot. I also don’t like the fact that you only get one chance per day to change you brain age. Why? Surely if you want to play it all day and try to improve your score you should be able to do so. I know your supposed to use it on a daily basis but the idea may be to allow you to have 3 sessions per day. The graphics are nice and simple and the gameplay is good, the puzzles are good and do make you think.
Customer Review: scissors is a bad bad word…
A very good game which actually does help you get better at remembering stuff. My mum is 21. I’m about 50. (HELP! My Vet Practice (Nintendo DS)

My Vet Practice (Nintendo DS)
Customer Review: Think before you buy
My friend, Lucy, bought this game a couple of months ago, she is now fed up of it and has swaped it for nintendogs, she is rather pleased she got nintendogs and gave away ‘MY VET PRACTICE’ She said it was terrible, and i’ll tell you why.

1. the game reapets its self over and over again

2. you only do small tasks, like patting or doing doctor check ups, then you give the animal back to its owner again.

3. everyday the game gets boring. with the same thing happening each and everyday, simple tasks being given to you, sooner or later you’ll get tired, completing the game in half an hour (30 minutes) is a sign this game isn’t right for you.

4. this is the last reason. it may be new, but it graphics make it seem it was made a long time ago.

you see where i’m at? The graphics are bad, it is very short, reapets itself and if very, very boring. I suggest you don’t buy this game, but it’s your chioce, if you are against my opion i’m okay with that, but let me tell you this. My main goal is to make you think, make you think before you buy, and the fact that somethings aren’t worth the money. thank you for listening, please remember, if you like this game, i am not saying you are a bit silly for making the chioce to buy this game, i’m just speaking my mind. Thank you for your time, i hope i have helped.

Customer Review: Ok
This Game is ok but once you have finished all the tasks it gets a bit boring.I would NOT recomend this to people who like games that carry on and you can do in your own way, otherwise I would if you like quick challenges. The game is simple when you get used to it. Just read the instructions and soon you’ll be an expert. Get going Gamers!

Pony Friends (Nintendo DS) Customer Review: Good pony game
If you like ponies or horses, this game is for you. It has excellent graphics and is very realisic. I like the horses, they are very calm and gentle. The scenery is very pretty too. In this game, you can care for, ride and stroke your pony. Of course you can do many other things, but these are the main things. Its hard to get money in this game, but I suppose then it lasts longer.

If you like action packed games, this isn’t really for you. Its an extremily calm sort of game, and doesnt require you to think much. I think the downside is that maybe its a bit depressing. The horses seem sad most of the time and you can’t realy do an awful lot. At least you can enter them in races though. ANyway, I’d say this is a general good game.
Customer Review: The BEST game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is really cool! You start off by buying a pony. You can decide if you want to buy a real breed or if you want to make your own one. It is posible to have three ponies at once.

The trail rides are SOO real. The graphics are always good. Some people won’t like this game because you don’t get to steer the pony, but to be honest there are so many other things to do that you don’t really have time. You can take photos of animals and look for gates to unlock new trails.

A must for all pony lovers!!!!!!!!

Nintendogs Labrador Retriever & Friends (Nintendo DS)
In a nutshell:
The ultimate evolution of virtual pet: Nintendogs gives you opportunity to preen and look after a selection of cute puppies in a virtual home, with virtual currency, where you can buy toys and accessories for their enjoyment. You can clean the pups, feed them, walk them, play catch with them, and even talk to them.

The lowdown:
Nintendogs is brimming with character. Each pup looks out from the DS touchscreen and paws longingly. You can respond to your virtual pet’s need of attention by stroking the screen, using items such as balls and brushes with the aid of the stylus, and talking to your dogs through the DS’s inbuilt microphone system. Impressive 3D graphics give lifelike animation to these canine wonders.

Most exciting moment:
After a few attempts to speak commands into the microphone, your puppy understands the meaning of “sit”, barks approval, and sits down. It’s good to talk.

Since you ask:
You can keep three pups in your home at any time. When left to their own devices, they’ll play and play-fight together. And they call this ‘puppy love’.

The bottom line:
A Nintendog is not just for Christmas.

Customer Review: FUN FUN FUN
The perfect alternative to the real thing! You won’t see any disappointed faces if you buy any of the nintendogs games. You’ll have so much fun with your surprisingly realistic virtual pets, you’ll forget he’s not real! The voice recognition function tops it all off. Simply by saying ’sit’ into the console, the little chap knows exactly what to do and follows command after training. Take your pup for walks, buy him toys, clean and brush him, feed him and train him, you’ll have so much fun doing so. You won’t regret buying it.
Customer Review: puppy love
I’ve only had my nintendo since my birthday, and I love it. ESPECIALLY nintendogs! I was thrilled to get it. I have got the Labrador version and it’s brilliant. The only things are… 1. You can get addicted SO easily 2. And it gets a little boring if you play on it for too long. I have got up to 18297 trainer points, and have 2 shelties called Honey and Henry, a Labrador called Meg, a corgi called Pablo and a KC spaniel called Peaches. The graphics are fab, and I don’t think they should have been allowed to publish the dog trainer, since I would call it cheating, and apparently the dogs get really bad tempered. I have just ordered Pony Friends off Amazon, and am eagerly awaiting it’s arrival. The reviews were good… Au Revoir!

42 All-Time Classics (Nintendo DS)
In a nutshell:
Possibly the least obscure game title ever, this does exactly what it says on the tin with forty-two classics from chess and backgammon, to darts, poker, bridge and solitaire.

The lowdown:
The surprising thing about this game is that nobody’s thought to do it before. The games are split into three varieties of card game and two of board games, plus a selection of “action” games including bowling, darts and billiards. Playing the card games is just as easy as you’d expect with two screens and a stylus, whether it’s Old Maid and Pig or Texas Hold `Em and Bridge. The board games work just as well, with Chinese Checkers, Checkers (i.e. Draughts), Dots and Boxes and more. You’ll also find games like Turncoat (i.e. Othello), “Connect Five”, Ludo, Mahjong and Solitaire. You have got to go to some effort not to find something of interest amongst this selection.

Most exciting moment:
The best thing about having so many games is that, except for the ones that are purposefully single player, they can all be played online. If you’re playing against a friend you can even chat using a PictoChat style interface.

Since you ask:
The Japanese and Western versions of the game have several different exclusive games. Japan never got Texas Hold ‘Em, Dots and Boxes, Grid Attack, Ludo, Dominoes, Escape or Mahjong Solitaire but instead have Napoleon, Goninkan, Bozumekuri, Sugoroku, Size Game, Last One and Mini Golf in their version.

The bottom line:
The one video games compendium that really is for everyone. - HARRISON DENT

Customer Review: exactly what it says on the tin good value
Exactly what you would expect, lots of choice of different games, all wel known & loved, no need for tricky game play or reading of instructions. put the card in & off you go- lots of different ones to choose & less likely for you to be bored. This is a great value for money choice

Pok?mon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team (Nintendo DS)
One day you awake to find that you’ve been turned into a Pok?mon and the land around you is being destroyed by natural disasters. It’s up to you to explore dungeons filled with wild monsters and uncover your true destiny and purpose in a game where you get to “be” a Pok?mon.

The lowdown:
Rather than being one of the core role-playing games in the Pok?mon series this is a spin-off based on ChunSoft’s long running (in Japan at least) Mystery Dungeon series. The basic idea is that you enter a random generated dungeon and defeat all the wild Pok?mon you find within it. Most of the standbys of the Pok?mon world also make an appearance, including Technical Machines that enable you to lean new abilities, resistances and weakness to different elemental attacks. You can’t capture wild Pok?mon but you can recruit them to your team, which adds something to your strategic options. Admittedly the game can get repetitive, but there’s generally enough to see and do until the “real” Pok?mon sequels come out sometime next year.

Most exciting moment:
The combat is a clever mix between real-time and turn-based combat, with wild Pok?mon moving about the dungeon at the same time as you. You can have four Pok?mon in your team at once, with the computer controlling the other three, and each can have four attacks or abilities each. If you’re sensible you’ll put together a varied team so you’ve got an attack ready for whatever enemy comes your way.

Since you ask:
As with most Pok?mon titles there are two versions of the game, in this case one for the DS and one for the GBA. They’re both essentially the same, except with different distributions of Pok?mon in each. The DS does have a couple of extra options though, as well as an easier to use touch screen interface.

The bottom line:
Not the deepest Pok?mon game ever but you’ll still find yourself wanting to catch `em all. - HARRISON DENT

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Wii)

It’s the game that never should’ve worked. Normal licensed games are usually bad enough but the game of the toy of the film? Clearly the Force was with developer Traveller’s Tales though because Lego Star Wars I and II were huge critical and commercial hits that showed that not only could licensed games be good but that titles aimed at kids and the family could be just as innovative and entertaining as any other. Clearly not wishing for any of the new consoles to miss out on the fun this is a compendium of both games with a bunch of new extras thrown in on top.

Together the two games cover both the prequel and original trilogy, with each film given six separate levels of its own, one of which is vehicle based. The rest of the levels though are deceptively simple action adventures with a built-in co-operative mode that anyone can join in and leave whenever they want. The combat is simple enough that anyone can play and you never really die, leaving the most complex part of the gameplay the always cleverly designed puzzles.

For this special version of the games extra levels have been added in (including the Zam Wessell chase from Attack of the Clones) as well as new bonus missions, ten new bounty hunter missions and the ability to play any of the characters in any of the levels. Add in a new online co-op mode for the PS3 and 360 and this really is the complete saga.

Customer Review: As much fun as you could have with little lego men…
The basic appeal of Lego Star Wars is that it lets you act out some of the more memorable Star Wars moments with cute little Lego people, a concept that hits so many different nostalgia triggers with such precision that it almost seems sinister. The game itself is an action adventure with a heavy focus on puzzle-solving and cooperative play, often at the same time. You’ll make your way through the Naboo palace, the cloning facility on Kamino, the streets of Mos Eisley, the corridors of the Death Star, and other distinct locales, with a small party of various characters in tow. While there are literally dozens of characters that you can unlock and play as, they all fit neatly into a few different character classes, each with unique and appropriate abilities. However, many of the changes and additions in The Complete Saga are the types that only those who’ve played through Lego Star Wars I or II would notice, and that’s the rub. For those who’ve already played one of the Lego Star Wars games, a full half of what The Complete Saga has to offer will be recycled. The online co-op play in the 360 and PS3 versions helps, since playing the game with another person can change the dynamic and pacing of the game quite a bit, but otherwise it would be much more cost-effective to just pick up a used copy of the one you haven’t played.
Customer Review: Brilliant Game, Bargain Price!
Although not released quite yet, i dont need to see how it plays on the wii. I own both the original and sequal on the playstation, have the sequal on the psp for trips away, and have the original on PC also for my nephew. Thats how brilliant this game is. GRAPHICS: Sticking with tradition, LEGO Star Wars is exactly that, everything in this game is built with the same stuff you can buy in the shops. The graphics are playful and simple, but still feels better than if they were true to life. Lightsabers glow, illuminating local areas, characters look like their lego counterparts, and everything (almost) explodes into tiny lego peices with a satisfying boom. SOUND: Its lego alright. The swish of the sabers, blasts from the lasers and explosions, all perfectly expressed. The music is of coarse directly from the Star Wars franchise, so fans wont be dissapointed. GAMEPLAY: Its a cute level based platformer, so as long as your not expecting epic levels and vast vistas, you enjoy. There are enough puzzles to last for a good age or so. Levels are well paced, boss fights increasingly difficult, yet still simple and easy to understand for most age groups. LASTLY: Theres infinite replayability here. Complete a level and replay it, switching to any character you’ve unlocked. Collect lego coins to buy more, get special abilites and unlock silly extras (plus so much more) This game doesnt take Star Wars seriously. It does however put a consistent smile on my face, with its cut-scene humour, force powered hilarity and easy to love gameplay. If you have kids, buy this! If you dont, buy this! Even if you hate Star Wars, buy this. Its that much fun!

All the cables you’ll ever need for your Wii.

Customer Review: 480p of joy
This does make a real difference to graphics on your telly. The cable seems well constructed and works well.

Customer Review: Much better image quality but…
unfortunately it shows the limit of the graphics of the Wii.

In 480p, the image is much sharper and you get less flickering, but it also shows that the Wii is lacking a good anti-aliasing. I’m also not sure that a non-Nintendo cable would not works as good as this quite pricey cable.

Mario Party 8 (Wii)
Although they love their sequels as much as any company, Nintendo aren’t usually ones to go in for yearly updates. The Mario Party series, developed by Bomberman creators Hudson, is their only example of the phenomena. As such, the series was always guaranteed to make an early appearance on the Wii - and with good reason too since its mix of board game antics and multiplayer mini-games are perfectly suited to the motion control of the Wii remote. Whereas some of the previous sequels have seemed a little unnecessary, this one actually feels like a brand new game. There are six new boards and fourteen different playable characters from amongst the usual Mushroom Kingdom pantheon. There’s also a new power-up system replacing the “orbs” of previous games with “candy”. These allow characters to transform into different forms to avoid traps and nobble other players, ranging from an airplane, to a bowling ball and a vampire.

Of course what’s most anticipated about the game is the 70 plus different mini-games, as usual ordered into 1 vs. 3, 2 vs. 2 and free-for-all games. These involve such activities as using the Wii remote to ride a water ski, tightrope walking, lassoing barrels, paddling a rowing boat with a partner, shooting on a target range and being the first to give your pet Chomp a wash. The games and presentation may all seem very cute but as ever the game is an expert at tempting you to cheat and conspire against your fellow players at every opportunity, making this the one family board game you won’t mind having an argument over.

Customer Review: if you have a nintendo wii, get this
Mario Party 8 is a brilliant game. The minigames are fun and it’s very rare that you get the same one twice while playing a party game! There is some bad points too though: BAD POINTS - > some of the boardgames take a little too long and you get bored > its the same as the previous mario party games on the gamecube, etc GOOD POINTS - > it’s not repetitive > you can laugh with friends or family at the stupid things the computer characters do > its a brilliant family game > you dont need a nunchuk for every controller if you are playing with more than one player There are loads more good points than bad, I can’t even begin to type them all up! Whatever people say about Mario Party being bad because its the same as the gamecube versions is stupid - why is it being the same a bad thing?????? I loved Mario Party on the gamecube, and it’s even better now its on the wii!!!!! If you have a Wii get this. If you dont, buy a Wii and then get this. Simple as :)
Customer Review: Good, but can get boring
This is a great game for family and friends but if you’re doing single player it is quite boring after about 10 minutes. All the fun is in playing multiplayer. Overall Graphics 7/10 single player 5/10 multiplayer 9/10 overall gameplay 8/10

Wii Play (includes Wiimote controller) (Wii)
In a nutshell:
If you want as gentle an introduction as possible to the world of Wii then this user-friendly compilation of mini-games is just the thing for you, with a collection of games that are as easy to play as they are fun.

The lowdown:
It might be easy to use but the Wii is still a pretty unusual beast and a bit of a culture shock from the overly complex controllers of other consoles. This compilation of mini-games aims to ease you in gently with simple to play games that only need the Wii Remote to enjoy. These include games of table tennis, air hockey (or Laser Hockey as the game would have it) and an updated of NES classic Duck Hunt. There’s also Wii Billiards, a fishing sim and a number of games which use your customised Mii Channel character, including Wii Pose and the Where’s Wally style Find Mii. Since many of these games have a multiplayer mode the game also comes bundled with an extra Remote (but not a nunchuck), which usually sells for ?29.99 separately.

Most exciting moment:
Although all of the games are fun the best one is probably the Duck Hunt update (which also has you shooting UFOs and other non-avian enemies). Perhaps what’s most exciting about it is that it proves how good other light gun franchises, such as Virtua Cop and Time Crisis would be on the Wii.

Since you ask:
Many of the mini-games included with Wii Play, such as Duck Hunt and Table Tennis, were first seen as technical demos at the E3 trade conference in May 2006, when the Wii was first revealed in playable form.

The games are really simply and designed just to get you used to the remote, but are addictive and it’s nice to see the characters you have created popping up on different games!

Customer Review: If you like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you’ll like
I bought this cable more out of curiosity than anything else, and didn’t really know what to expect as there seem to be lots of contradicting reports of what RGB scart does for you. Here’s my attempt to describe its effects having tried out most of my games on it- Zelda: twilight princess - This game has lots of very small or detailed text, and the cable improved the sharpness of the details. Mario 64 - surprisingly, this game was enormously improved from the composite cables, making text more readable and graphics more vibrant and well-defined, making the whole game seem fresher. Sonic 2 - the game feels more vital somehow- presumably because the lines in the background are more defined so you get a greater sense of it whizzing by. Zelda: A link to the past - The text across the top of the screen (for arrows, bombs, rupees etc) is more readable. Super Mario Sunshine - Oddly enough considering mario 64, i saw no discernible difference at all with this game. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Detailed textures were sharper, and given that this game makes extensive use of pretty textures it makes the game look better. Note: this game runs in 480i only, and 480i seemed to look a lot nicer on my TV through the rgb cable than through composite, though i suspect that depends more on the TV. Overall, the edges of text and buttons, boxes etc. are better defined, and the edges of 3D objects are better defined. Fine details in textures which would be lost in the blurring of a composite signal are preserved by the rgb cable. If you can find one of these cables at a relatively reasonable price (I found one priced at ?16.99) then if you’re interested in improved graphics it’s probably worth it, as it does represent the optimum experience on a standard-definition TV.
Customer Review: As expected… Great
Does what you would expect a Scart RGB cable to do… Make everything look a lot better, sharper and clearer by a composite comparison. There is no screen ratio switching with this cable, which is usual for Nintendo RGB leads. My X-Box system uses this kind of switch with my 4:3 television and causes a, very squished, wide-screen picture. One problem, however, is the fact that the Nintendo Wii keeps a signal on, in such cables, even though the machine is in standby/online mode. It keeps the TV focussed on the Wii, even though the console is not being used. This is actually a Wii problem though, rather than the cable. If you are using a standard screen TV, it’s probably best you use this Nintendo RGB cable.

42 All-Time Classics (Nintendo DS) In a nutshell:

Customer Review: An adventure game in lawyer’s clothing
If you’re not sure what this game is, I’ll start by clarifying: it is, in effect, an old-school graphical adventure game. If you’re too young to remember those, it basically means your character goes to different locations, you pick stuff up, you converse with people, and you try to interact objects in your inventory with other things (in this case, just people). That doesn’t really do the game justice, though. This really is a thinking man’s game, and the vast majority of the time you can use reason to work out what to do next, rather than the random experimentation (and let’s not forget mouse-sweeping) characteristic of the genre. The story seems more involving for the emphasis on deduction. The game is split into four cases, where the pattern is generally that you spend a while investigating and gathering evidence (in the process working out about half of what happened) and then spend a while in court, unable to go anywhere and trapped in one conversation in which you can “die” (your client gets found guilty) if you make too many wrong guesses, though in some cases you do get to go out and do more investigation. In contrast to the “health bar” that can only diminish in court, while investigating you can’t “die” in that sense (though you can reach zero “life”), and can recover “life” by breaking what the game calls “psyche locks”, which are in effect just the normal get-information-out-of-people routine, only harder (and requiring more objects as evidence). By making a wrong guess with a psyche lock, you lose “life” just as you would in court, but when you finally get someone to reveal their secret, 50% life gets added, so starting the court part with very low chances happens rarely. This is a Japanese game (as quickly becomes clear if it wasn’t already), so you do have to deal with the occasional translation inaccuracy (it’s about 99% correct, and always clear) and rather odd “localisation” which involves the characters declaring that they are in the US, despite the presence of a clearly Japanese village in the game, and a rather bizarre conversation in which a character says they imported a British car (obviously in Japan this was an American car) at considerable expense because it’s basically big, loud, fast, and shiny. Being basically linear, there is a definite end to this game, and it probably will come sooner than you’d like (though that last case is rock hard), but you’re still talking about several hours, normally. Sometimes while playing you do hit the traditional adventure game flaw of “this should work”, where there is an object with a property sufficient to do a task, but you actually have to use something else - in this case, you’d object (and lose life) while thinking, “the testimony DOES contradict the evidence!”. With a limited number of guesses that you can make, this does make the game frustrating at times, and for that I’m popping a star off its rating. Overall, it’s very good fun (I suppose dependant on you being into mysteries, crime shows, or the like), with a few noticeable flaws holding it back. Just try to resist googling for a walkthrough, because it’ll ruin the fun!
Customer Review: Frustratingly good!!
first of all, this is a great game, and i would recommend it to most ds users, as long as you are patient, and are not just into fast action type games. there is a LOT of looking around, and speaking to people. the frustrating part is a bit of both! you cannot get past certain areas without speaking to certain people, or finding certain things. and il admit now that i used a walkthrough just a few times, and even after reading what to do, i knew that without “cheating” i never would have found the evidence i needed! the next annoying part, for me at least, was in court, only sometimes though. same as above, you cannot get past certain parts without giving some evidence, and as im not the sharpest knife in the drawer, this was sometimes challenging, as the most obscure piece of evidence is neede to prove something.(cannot think of any examples right now, but trust me, they are there!) on the up sides though, its a very addicting game, and very entertaining, i was quite happy just reading the script like a story, without actually having to give evidence etc, its just like a very good cartoon on the tv! looks very nice indeed, and the characters are great, some you will love, like little pearls :) and some you will hate like von karma (you foolishly foolish fool) overall a fantastic game, sad that it ended really! and im very much looking forward to the next for more frustrating and yet very entertaining gaming.

Catz is a great game that is really enjoyed by my kids and their friends. It’s really designed for the under 12s and the very negative reviews of this game on amazon don’t take that into account. No point reviewing this game in the same way as you would Halo 3. Come on people, the game is designed for kids. Catz is great at what it does!

I ENJOY THIS GAME. THE GAMEPLAY IS GOOD AND REALISTIC. THE REASON PEOPLE MAY FIND THIS GAME BORING IS BECAUSE THE CAT ACTS LIKE A REAL CAT. CATS ARE VERY LAZY, AND THE GAME SHOWS THAT. I FIND THIS A VERY FUN GAME.

Customer Review: dissapointed
I started this game with not very high hopes, the only game on ds out of many ive purchased ive enjoyed is mario carts. Its very fun to start of with exploring the ship and having your first disguise, the constant speaking between characters gets a little tedious but you become determind to carry on, im currently on the 2nd level and have been trying for 2 weeks now how to get through it. Just like i thought its another one of those games which you get stuck on put in your cupboard and never play on again.
Customer Review: Disappointing
Ever since playing Warioland 4 on the GBA a few years ago I have been waiting desperately for a follow-up. The controls for a start are very clunky and unresponsive as you have no option but to use the touch screen to do all of your moves and attacks. At first I thought this sounded rarther promising but it brings the game down due to Wario not responding properly and makes the game more of a chore than anything else. There are a lot of different disguises Wario uses in the game that are activated by drawing an icon on the touch screen but again this is poorly done and you often get the wrong ‘disguise’. If your a big fan of the Warioland series I really would not recommend this - you will only be dissapointed. If your not look into buying Warioland 4 and save yourself some money at the same time.

Mario Vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis (Nintendo DS)
Customer Review: March to your own beat
I was so hooked on this game, I even started taking it to work with me to play in my lunch hour. It’s brilliantly addictive, and a long time since I remember a Lemmings style puzzler of this quality. It reminds me of Krusty’s Super Funhouse for the SNES, but without the horrible annoying music. Each level is based on a different Mario or Donkey Kong game stage - a genius idea, they even use Mario and DK music from past games.

The ‘build your own level’ is fantastic, but takes a few goes to get right.

The game’s only let down is that it’s maybe a bit too easy to complete, I finished it in about a week of playing during lunch hours. That said, it’s still a lot of fun and it’s great to see Mario and Donkey Kong in this kind of game.

Customer Review: Very fun game, a bit too short though.
Despite the fact that I only ever finished 2 levels with a gold star (silver for the rest) this was quite an easy game. I took it on holiday with the intention of it being decent fodder for downtime but I finished it all in 6 days.

Asides from that it’s very cute and colorful (as with most Mario games) and has some great gameplay and tunes. It’s a lot like the Lemmings games crossed with a little bit of snakes and ladders. The puzzles are clever and fun to solve and it’s never boring. I did find the lack of response (only sometimes) from the stylus pen to be a bit annoying, but it wasn’t that big of a deal.

Perfect for kids, a decent distraction for adults.

New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo DS) In a nutshell:
It’s been over fifteen years since the last Super Mario Bros. but finally Mario is back in a proper 2D platforming adventure. Just because it’s old school though doesn’t mean it’s old hat…

The lowdown:
Considering the last Super Mario Bros. game is still the best selling video game of all time (17.28 million copies and counting) this has a lot to live up to, but it almost effortlessly captures the action and charm of the old games. The basics of the game are the same as always as you run and jump through mostly horizontally scrolling levels. New to the game are power-ups that turn Mario into a giant or make him really tiny, as well as one that gives him a Koopa shell on his back to attack enemies with. Although the gameplay is all in two dimensions the graphics are 3D, with all new moves such as the triple jump and wall jump added in as well.

Most exciting moment:
As well as the single player mode there’s also a wireless multiplayer mode where you get to battle a friend (as Luigi) across a whole bunch of specially designed levels.

Since you ask:
As Super Mario World on the SNES (since re-released as Super Mario Advance 2 on the GBA) was subtitled Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan that name couldn’t be used for this new game, although that’s secretly whatever everyone’s calling it - behind Nintendo’s back.

The bottom line:
The impossible has happened: Nintendo have created a worthy follow-up to Super Mario Bros. 3!
Harrison Dent
Customer Review: MARIO TIME!!!
Despite the sort of weird title, New Super Mario Bros. is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a new Super Mario Bros. game that pulls off the series’ classic 2D, side-scrolling gameplay without feeling contrived or like a needless nostalgia trip. While there’s plenty of old memories referenced in this game, it is most definitely new. You rarely see 2D platformers at all these days, and it’s even rarer when it’s done right. While experienced players might blow through the game quickly, New Super Mario Bros. is still completely awesome and absolutely necessary.

The game really rides the nostalgia line very well. There’s just enough old or remixed Mario music and sound effects in there to remind you of the older games, and there’s just enough newer-sounding stuff to prevent the whole thing from feeling shameless. In short, the audio is another one of the game’s many high points, containing plenty of great sound effects (both old and new) and the standard array of speech you’ve come to expect from Mario.

With its ability to recall the older games without leaning too heavily on its famous name, New Super Mario Bros. is an essential new classic that lives up to the legacy of the series quite well. If you’re looking for a quality DS game, look no further.
Customer Review: Keeps the little ones quiet!
We’ve bought several games for our son who owns a DS. He’s only 6 and the youngest, but he has managed to play this game without any problems. He has advanced quite far into the game and it’s one of his favourite DS games, in fact it’s one of two that he takes on every long car journey. We will definitely be buying more Mario games, to go with Mario Kart (his other fave) and this one. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: immersive
When I first started playing this game I thought I wouldn’t have the patience for it. The dialogue is very heavy and at first all the conversation seems meaningly and irrelevant, however I perservered and I’m so glad I did! You get totally lost in it, just like a good book. The characters become interesting and slowly but surely everything starts coming together. I finished it last night, and was gutted! Replay value obviously isn’t that high, but it was a real surprising treat for me. Plus, the graphics are very clever and suited the game amazingly well.
Customer Review: Boring, Boring, Boring
I bought this game after reading the good reviews about it and expected it to be really good. I was bored out of my mind. The music is boring, the graphics are poo and overall I just think it is rubbish. It could do with a little more colour and the characters need more personality. Do not buy this game. If you like games to challenge you then this is not the one for you, in fact it is not the game for anyone. They should stop selling the game and destroy all of the ones that have already been sold. Oh yeah, and did I say - this game is poo!

Customer Review: DOGZ RULES!!!!!!!!!
Dogz is one of my best games. I got it in June, play it every day and it’s never got boring! The game starts and your a boy/girl and you and your parents chose a puppy from loads of different breeds. Then you go home and start looking after your dog. There are lots of tricks your puppy has to learn. Also, you can decide how you want your room to look with things thatou buy or are given. This game is a must for all dog lovers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Customer Review: My 6 year and 9 year olds love This Game
Since getting this game my Six year old has been unable to put it down, much to my nine year olds dismay, I can’t believe how good she is at rolling the monkey in the right direction. (requires quite a lot of practise) I am considering buying a second game to save arguments. A perfect gift for Christmas that should go down very well.

Deal Or No Deal (Nintendo DS)

Deal Or No Deal (Nintendo DS)
Customer Review: Repetitive and shallow gaming experience
I like Deal or No Deal a lot as a show, but essentially it is a fairly slim concept. You open boxes, the banker makes you an offer and you accept or reject. It can be really gripping television but sadly this attempt at making it into a game falls flat.

The Nintendo DS version has three options - the regular game, playing as the banker or a forfeits version. There is also a mini-game that crops up once a game and will soon become grating as you have to follow a moving box and correctly identify it. Whilst the makers clearly want to add some variety to the game, by only having one such challenge it quickly becomes a chore. It would have been better to have a number of assorted tasks that can be completed. Variable difficulty levels might have made it more entertaining too - I certainly never had any problem following the boxes.

The option to play as the banker is certainly an interesting twist (though the moving boxes mini-game makes an unwelcome appearance) though the novelty wears out fairly quickly.

The biggest problem with this title is repetition. You’ll see the same tired old banker comments repeat each game, the musical score is bland and you will come to dread the appearance of the mini game.

Then again, it was a near-impossible task for the game’s makers - without the tension in the studio the atmosphere of the show never really comes to life. Whilst it is fun to see a digital version of Noel Edmonds (and a number of interesting looking individuals holding boxes), the novelty quickly wears off.

Customer Review: i’m ready for the question…
i love the show so much and watch it every day. this arrival of this game means that i can play it all day and night. it’s so realistic as well - noel looks great and the other contestants look realistic. the game is set out just like in real life which makes the experience so much better than your bog standard other type of game. keep up the good work guys.

Customer Review: A bit too easy
My missus bought this game a couple of weeks ago as she fancied a cartoony racing game. She wasn’t particularly impressed with it. I’ve had a play with it too and if I had played the original on the N64 then I might have pangs of nostalgia which added warmth for the game - but I didn’t and was left a little cold by it. My main gripe with it is that it is too easy. The first time I picked it up I did a quick race, managed to
